Yes that's true. But Lindell was also a 3rd round pick. If Kärki was as good as some people are saying here (late first round/second round) I think he would've played at least a couple of games in Liiga. But he didn't. 2 other young defensemen have played for Tappara these past 2 seasons (Hamara, Kulonummi) but not Kärki. And Hamara and Kulonummi are 3rd round picks. That makes me think Kärki is not as good as some are saying and he'll get drafted probably in 3rd round.
This is rather black and white way to look at this.

Previous season when Hamara played Tappara had significantly more troubles with their D-core which allowed Hamara get his chance.

This season the 7 player core was even stronger and you could say they had less problems. Then their first junior call-up would be Kulonummi (almost year older) or Ahlroth. And Ahlroth several times sit on the bench for the whole game or get very little minutes.

And ofcourse Tappara was trying to win things not showcase their junior talent. In Finnish hockey this is sadly rare. It is one of those cases were junior players face real competition to get in lineup. Sadly the U20 is in horrible shape and is not gaad place for anyone.

If U20 is in horrible shape then does that mean that Kärki's point totals aren't that impressive? Hamara scored 25 points in 32 games last season in U20 and this season in OHL only 17 points in 56 games. That's a massive drop-off.

U20 point totals are pretty much by definition unimpressive. You can't draw very many conclusions from them, and anyone who could score enough in U20 to raise their NHLe to an appreciable level would be in Liiga anyways.

Based on his numbers alone, you could conclude that he might be a player but that's about it.

Obviously for multiple reasons this is not anyway comparable in some past stats for many reasons.

Obviously Liiga has expanded too big (but this was some years ago already). Too many teams either showcase or are in situation where they have to promote their young talent and even somewhat cabable liiga prospects to the roster.

For that reason U20 is already diluted. Then now we have 24 team first round in U20. By no standards there is enough even a high amateur league player potential there. Teams that manage to get -80 or -90 goal difference in 23 games are nothing more than stat pumpers.

One of the wildest examples is K-Espoo. Their senior team plays in Mestis (second highest Finnish league). They have already promoted their best U20 players that are cabable of playing in second league. But they still have not one but two teams in U20 first round. And if that isn´t crazy enough the K-Espoo/2 junior team still managed to be better than two other capital area teams.

I think it might be due to limited film. I tried to get video on him because he was in Pronman's top 50, but I was unsuccessful in doing so.
Nah, that’s not it. EP uses InStat, not sure about Pronman. It’s the fact that he’s one of the most promising offensive defensemen in this draft except for being atrocious defensively and there’s concerns about his ability to be effective on a North American rink.

What makes him so polarizing?
1. He hasn’t played against men yet so his effectiveness against older and stronger players is relatively unknown.

2. His defence leaves lots to be desired (turnovers, gap control, etc.) and will need strong development

3. Defenders with similar projection profiles without senior games have ranged from studs (Esa Lindell) to busts (Eemeli Rasanen)

4. His offensive potential warrants attention, and his puck moving skill in combination with his size has scouts excited.

And he still has the same massive problems on defense and the breakout. Lots of time to work on that, though. The offense is intriguing.
