Damn what a terrible time for Czech fans :( Chytil again out with concussion (I am worried he has like 1-2 years before he calls it quits in NHL to keep his health), Kulich 20yrs and already first concussion, hope he doesnt go the same way Chytil does, Jiricek again not playing anywhere and our AHL prospects are all kinda invisible lately

Not very optimistic views for the future right now lol

Yup.. no chytil or Kulich sucks. A second team not letting jiricek play hockey is amazing to me. Send him to the AHL!

Mrazek may be the wings starter so that's intereting. That's all I got.lol.

This has to be rock bottom but then I saw guys like Nosek and faksa don't have contracts for next season. It just keeps getting worse lol

I am alreads finding articles that this might be end of the line for Chytil. Health has to be put on the first place of course.

But from a sports perspective, that could be another crushing blow for czech hockey. Losing a top 6 forward at the age of 25 who could potentialy go for another 10 seasons in NHL

Really bad bad news.

Add to It Kulich already with concussion at age of 20. Jiricek completely f***ed, Another Jiricek fading completely in OHL. Svozil and Spacek 22 and 23 yrs old already and both far from stable NHL spot. Other AHL prospects also not exactly shining, more the opposite.

And all that optimism we had about how czech hockey is back some 2-3 yrs ago is gone.

Yup, it would appear a lot of busting is happening right now.lol

Zero shock on losing Chytil but agree, it sucks. We lost Voracek and O. Kase to this as well. Then Francouz with an early retirement. The CT24 broadcast both would have been a top 6 line with a starting goalie.lmao

Svozil and Spacek are indeeed getting worrisome. So is Jiricek. They all look awesome at tourneys and then fade away in AHL back to Europe.lol

Number of players with at least around 30 games in NHL from that 22-23 WJC rosters:
Czechs - 2
Canada - 11
USA - 5 (but lot of guys are NCAA bound)
Sweden - 2
Finland - 0
Switzerland - 1 (I wil give them Bischel he is pretty close)

So that actually calmed me down a bit lol, we are on par with Sweden and better then Finland and Switzerland. Canada and US will be of course always way ahead.

But problem is, that we played superb in that turney, going toe to toe with Canada in finals, I really expected we will be at around 4-5 players with 30 or more NHL games by now.

Second problem, Sweden and Finland have way more skaters in the NHL, so they dont need new players that desperatelly as we do.

That isn't Kulich's first concussion. First in the NHL, but not first concussion.

Thats even worse ... though he might not have concussion this time no? Or is it confirmed? I read that he is on some sort of concussion protocol with suspicion of concussion.

Just need a few guys to hit but they simply aren't. Klapka is playing regularly now which is good. Ivan got half a season which is encouraging. Blumel and jenik are doing very well in AHL. Stezka and skarek got a look. Jiricek had a few nice games. Kulich seems to be a full time nhler. It's nowhere near enough but still hoping for a few breakthroughs. Vrana is playing full time.

My fear is it gets worse though .. eg. If Nosek, rutta and faksa are done. Are there three guys replacing them? Is Vrana coming back? That would be 4 less. Jenik gone? Blumel?

Feels lousy right now.lol.

Disappointing he can't get NHL time... Too much AHL time IMO. Not sure what more he could've done but Dallas is a wagon. Say hi to jenik and Kaut and zadina and Spacek and chlapik for me.

Nice achievement though

I know this definitely an NHL-focussed thread, but thought you might find it interesting that Tereza Vanišová just became the first player in the PWHL to score 2 hat tricks in a season. She also leads the Ottawa Charge in goals, points, and PIMs. Definitely a fan favourite!

Love it and thank you very much. Took us forever to get out of that dreaded quarter bracket and pool B but now I feel like we are a good contender for Bronze. We will not be competitive with Canada/USA anytime soon but I do feel we are getting into 'holy shit, they beat them in a huge upset' territory. Finland is great too. Sweden is back!

I thought I remembered the Czech ladies giving us a big run for our money in a knockout round game fairly recently, but searching high and low I can't find the game I'm thinking of. Closest I can find to anything resembling that is Finland holding us to a score of 4-1 in the 2022 Olympic semifinal, so maybe that's what I'm thinking about. Meanwhile we blew out the Czech women 10-1 in 2022 and 9-1 in 2023 at the world championships. :(

FInland has one major upset and got to finals and were robbed by a really bad call (IMO) against the USA (after being Canada I believe). I think it was U18 or U20... not sure. I remember being so sad for the Finn's.

The Czech U18 ladies took out Canada in a semi recently.. I believe. 2024 U18. Canada got revenge this year but it was only 4-2.

I think I remember that game. Finland thought they had the overtime winner, but the goal was called off. We scored later to take the gold. I'm American and I thought that call was bullshit.

Hertl was playing outstanding too! Just need a pasta and Necas injury to top it all off!

Definitely ... Btw what happened with Svozil? Guy has a 15 games without points streak
I don't really follow the AHL guys that closely. Hoping those 2 NHL games weren't all he's getting. He seems to have fallen off the map to be honest. Starting to worry he won't make it and be on Kometa in 2 years. Think he needs to get in at least 20 NHL games next season to even have hope going forward.

I've legit thought of a conspiracy theory.lol We are now coaching and training our kids to be good at the Hlinka and U20. It's working but then when they join other clubs they can't do shit.lol

As you know, I will cheer to the end! His brother had less than 10 points in OHL I think. Just a f***en disaster this season!

I am honestly starting to fear, that except for Kulich and maybe Jiricek (and Sale but he is younger), no one fron that silver team will be a stable NHLer. Those guys are getting older, basically 21-22 yrs old now, and no one apart from those above mentioned are even close to some legit NHL gig.

Luckily for us we have bunch of talent even in the next drafts and also in next few drafts coming now, so luckily those guys will be more sucessful in transition into the NHL.

Seem like our prospects are looking great now, but at the crucial moment, when they need tu make the last step to the NHL, they just completely crumble.

From last night's first star performance -

First goal:

Second goal:

HIm and Necas both had a great night.

Imagine a world where Kulich, Hertl, Pasta, Hronek, Chytil and Necas were all healthy at the same time.lol Hasn't happened yet in this gong show of a season.

I'd put Kulich in Top 6 at the World's without hesitation. If he's in Rochester, I will riot.lol
