So far into NHL/AHL + signed rookies:

D.Spacek
Alscher
Pavel
Dobes
Stezka
Smejkal
Dvorak
Sale

Out of NHL/AHL:

Krejci (probably)
Voracek(probably)
O.Kase
Sustr
Frk
Galvas
Knot
Kaut
Kral

So we are -1 so far ... especially the loss of Krejci, Voras and Kase all at the same time is extremely painfull, but what can be done.

I have also expected a bit more czech euro guys signing this year, so far just Stezka and Smejkal got contracts. This is not necessarily bad, it also means that NT and ELH is not losing much power this year. But yeah I would still rather see more of our guys signing with NHL teams and try to win the place in the roster there.

And of course there are still some of our junior guys, already under contracts, which can advance to AHL/NHL this year like of course Svozil, but also Sapovaliv or Brabenec, Hamara. And also guys like Szturc, Suchanek or Ivan can sign with some team, they all had great season behind them. (still thinking Szturc and Suchanek not being drafted is completely ridiculous lol)

So overall we may end up with a bit more players alltogether in the NA then last year, but sadly with big loss in NHL quality with Krejci, Voras and Kase leaving (or probably leaving)

Edit: Maybe I have also forgot someone, can happen lol.

Krejčí seems to want to play at the World Cup, which would be great. The end of his career is coming and he won't play for more than a year (so definitely not in the NHL).
It's very bad luck for Voráček, he should have played in the NHL for a few more years.
Kaše played a dangerous style for him and it's no wonder he ended up like this. But of course, in the sum of all those players who ended up in the NHL for various reasons, this is another case where everything about Czech players has been going wrong lately..
I am quite happy for both Galvas and Král, both will be free for the national team and if they are healthy, they can be great reinforcements. Jordan et al. they probably won't get an invitation anymore.

When I make me yearly guess at future NHL guys. Kral, kaut and galvas were always making it and Hajek was sticking around. Those predictiona are aging awfully.lol

I think he will do very well! He's not generational but he is good and almost always playing against older players. Hope it goes well.

Sounds like ostap Safin is becoming a Russian citizen and going to KHL
Imagine throwing away Czech passport (or any west-of-Russia country's for that matter) only to become a Russian citizen in times like these  will be even funnier once he's stuck in the lower tier VHL.

But in an old interview it was implied he feels more Russian than Czech, similar to Jaskin, so from his perspective it maybe makes some sense I guess.

Add to that the fact that Czech society is currently hysterically anti-Russian. Another good reason to stay in his place anyway.

Good riddance to bad rubbish

No, it’s appropriately anti-Russian. Would you also have complained about society in, say, the Netherlands being anti-German in 1939 just because of the minor fact that they started a genocidal war against Poland?

He also said before that he would never want to play for Russia, he was born in the Czech Republic, learned his hockey there and it would be madness to play for Russia. I guess he said a lot of things.

Interesting to see what Kaut said regarding the reasons he left the NHL, and what the club said in response. They are diametrically opposed statements, no misunderstandings. That means one side is definitely lying. Which one, I wonder? Player or club? What do you think?

I know Safin said so. Not that it matters anymore though, he made his decision, which is now irreversible. I just hope no Czech Extraliga team ever considers giving him any chance should he want to come back, though I am not holding my breath after the Trinec fiasco with Samuel Bucek...

As for Kaut, surely it must be the club trying to save face. I see no reason for Kaut to lie on that matter, what could he possibly gain from it? Maybe to justify his departure a bit, but that just sounds stupid, you could do so without 'insulting' your previous employer.

1) you can write me anything here, it's my opinion and you certainly won't change it
2) this is a hockey forum, so I have no desire to go into any details

Skarek signed a 2 year and 2 way contract. I'd say he is another guy I was too high on. Hope he cracks the roster but he's behind 2 very good Russians who are signed 1 way. I was actually surprised Varlamov resigned. He won't get much playing time

Sounds like they didn't think he was top 6 material. They wanted more fighting and hitting. Same thing happened to Lauko. And he got in a fight in the NHL. He has a 2 year NHL contract and kaut is in extraliga

I'm not a fan of fighting and don't value it so I get kauts point but he is now a 24 year old extraliga player who was drafted in round 1. I didn't see that much greatness from him at the worlds either.

Of course.. he trashed Kari too. He basically just said his last two coaches were not good! Maybe true. Feel like he is burning bridges though.

He better be a top 5 extraliga scorer and back this up.

His brief SJ stint was good. I was surprised he went to AHL after that but they clearly see a big body and want more physicality.

It's funny because klapkas team probably wants more skill from him.lol. We need to combine the two!

Re: Kaut, difficult to say. Though a lot of Czech players (and people in general..) have a massive habit of coming up with all sorts of colourful excuses why something wasn’t their fault / they were just not good enough. But who knows, I certainly don’t have any clue which side was fibbing here.

The first reaction in the thread about Škarek:
I’m surprised he got two years considering he was constantly outplayed by a 36/37 year old Cory Schneider.

Our flops are adding up!

Kaut, Hajek, zboril, zadina, skarek, Kral, galvas, frk

Add in the injuries you mentioned to Voracek and Kase.

Krejci has left the NHL.

5 years ago I'd say this is all impossible.lol

I also imagined it a little differently..
The only player from the recent past who made it and wasn't from the first round was Hronek (if I'm not mistaken and he didn't forget anyone). On the other hand, several crashes from the first round.. This did not happen to the Swiss, for example (even though there were few players, but they all made it and are stars...).

It happened to the Finn's with multiple first round busts... But they had soany first rounders it didn't even slow them down.

I think Russia has a very poor record of converting picks to NHL as well. Worst ratio to my knowledge.

Our first round misses are disappointing.

I don't see many big surprises coming up this season... Best case would be:

Dostal is starter after Gibson trade.
Zohorna is full time
Zboril is full time
Zadina is full time
Raska gets 40 games
Kulich and jiricek are full time
Rousek gets 40 games
Vladar gets traded and has a great season
Stezka makes the krakken
Smejkal makes the senators
Suchanek gets an ELC
Szturc gets an ELC
Lauko is full time

It's bad. I do see Hronek, pasta, Chytil, Necas and Palat all having great seasons. Need good health. Curious how my good friend Zacha does.

Just a few notes..
-Smejkal is a borderline NHL player
- I'm not sure if I want Jiřiček and Kulich in the NHL right now. It is again and again a long and undecided discussion, which is better for the players. Was it good that Slafkovsky was on the Habs and not on the farm? I don't know, but it's a legitimate question.. Moreover, Kulich has to go to the junior championship, a clear thing..

Well so some of our possible 2024 draft youth prospects going to CHL... Samuel Drancak to Red Deer, Lukas Kral to Spokane and Adam Jecho do Edmonton Oil Kings. What do you think about this? Think it can help them to develop better before draft? Our U18 certainly took a hit with this ..

I am especially curious how Jecho will do there. He can be a second round pick, maybe even late first if he has a good season there, but that will be hard.
