I knew next to nothing about their team going into this but even in the first game against Canada I went.."hey, they ain't bad, they are organized and a good skating team"

Easy team to like too, they play hard but without over the top rough stuff and it's not like they are clutching and grabbing their way through games to survive.

Playing prevent defense only prevents you from winning.

Shouldn't have been a penalty shot. The Latvian put his hand over the puck but the puck wasn't in the crease.

That's always an option in USA Hockey rules. Not sure about IIHF rules. At high-level play, you always take the penalty shot though, since statistically you score on about 30-35% of penalty shots. Power play percentages are much lower than that, even when you have a hot power play.
