But good god did I hate the Olympic selections before that - especially Hadamczak!

Oh man, please don't mention his name. I have nightmares about him leading the U-20s next year or soon after. His argument would be something like: "Well I won the last medal back in 2005, so only I know how it's done.":help:

Salda and Jenik make a huge difference in this lineup. Salda makes the defence so much more mobile and moves the puck very well. Jenik has been dynamite up front. Really driving his line.

Why do they have Hrabik on the 1st PP? They should have Galvas on D instead of Kvasnicka for that 1st PP. Also, why not use Salda on the 2nd PP at least, he is a top 2 puck mover on this defense?

I really wouldn't call it huge difference, but they have been solid. Jenik is very skilled, he needs to work on his skating badly though.
Still, 8 periods in and Czechs have scored three goals. How do you want to win anything when you can't score? I would like to think the floodgates will open against Denmark, but I think it will be a close low scoring game instead.

Because our coaching staff is smarter than anyone else and putting a low-skill powerforward is the way to go on the PP.

They need to play Zadina with Necas. I don't know why this isn't happening. They're the best players on the team and have chemistry. These guys are one of the top pairings in the tournament. They should play together to generate offense.

We didn't have offensive elite talent in years until this year and yet our coaching manages to blow our offensive potential. Also there is no critique from Czech media that I've noticed regarding the coaching decisions throughout the last games.

If the Swiss team manages to play a close game with Canada (4:3 loss), we should too be able to do it. The difference is: the Swiss coaching staff knows that they cannot dictate the game, so they're patiently waiting for chances & counter-attacking. Czech coaching apparently wants our defense to make the plays against top teams even though the can't as we've seen.

We need to change our strategy if we want to win a game at this WJ. Stacking our 2 first lines would be a start...

Czech media suck when it comes to junior hockey. I hate to say it, but the coaching we are getting this year is Prerost quality. Czechs are playing slow, boring, no excitment hockey. Offense is bad, defense is bad, PP is awful. The only things that are somewhat working are goaltending and PK.

Question for our Czech friends... If you were to ice a combined Czech/Slovak team, would you expect to medal in this tournament?

Its one thing to make a bad lines. Its another thing to keep playing those lines even when it clearly didnt work. Varada is so stubborn.

Also our PP coached by Elias sucks. This is why I dont like to see former players jump right into the action. Would be better if he started in U16/U18 to get some experience and educate himself more. Oh well ... lets beat Denmark and everything will be fine.

I am afraid there is no hockey player in CZ team which would make you excited.Seemed to me that any canadian could do what Necas does.

Yeah he is. Surely it makes sense to play Zadina-Necas for the last 10 minutes so that they can warm up for Denmark?

Right now our captain is frustrated, taking stupid penalties and not leading well at all. He sounds so emotionless and detached in his interview.

It's the worst I remember at this level.

I think both Nečas and Zadina feel, that they don't play good, are disappointed of themselves, and I don't understand why the coaches don't combine them together, really. If your two star players don't produce separated, just try to combine them - doesn't it make sense? Nečas looks frustrated, Zadina looks frustrated, they are apparently not enjoying their game but struggling on the ice. I still believe it is about one game, which will hopefully come against the Danes, they will finally score and get back to the proper mood. But really, the coaches definitely should combine them.

Also, I am afraid that our PP is way too complicated. It seems like Eliáš is coaching the PP system like he was coaching high experienced veteran guys - he wants certain things from his players, which experienced NHL pros would be able to materialize, but not those young junior players. This is especially the matter of zone entrance during the PP. It is so complicated, that the players either lose the puck on the blue line or get off side. They need to play it simple, gain the zone quickly whatever way, puck on the shooting guy up there, a big body into the net, and set the first shot as quickly as they can, to make some mess in the zone, put the defending four into panic a little bit. Now, they try to play it too sophisticated, but they are not capable of materializing the ideas.

You gotta think he puts Zadina and Necas together for the quarterfinal. Maybe it’ll surprise the opposing team. That’s the only positive I see from it.

Now that that's over...

I honestly had a dream last night that Varada benches 1 of Necas/Kaut/Zadina to 'send a message' and promotes Jakub Pour to the first line. I get this sounds crazy but I could honestly see it happening.

Jenik played a great game IMO. Honestly, here is how the lines should look:

Zadina Necas Lauko
Pekar Jenik Kaut
Dont Kondelik UP
Dont f*** UP

Note: I think a Pekar/Jenik/Lauko line could handle it's own if they really wanted the big 3 together. I just don't know why Necas/Zadina are being split up when it is such a natural fit. We've scored 3 goals in 3 games and I picture Vaclav bag skating everyone for not trying hard enough.

D doesn't matter much because of the quality but I'd give Galvas some PP1 time.

Goalies - we should've started Skarek to see what he has got. I do give Varada credit for not playing Dostal.

I noticed at the start of the third that Myskina lead the team in minutes... is he related to Vaclav?

I read on here that someone suggested maybe Varada is keeping them apart so that other teams can't scout their tendencies. If that is the plan, it is indeed brilliant.

However, if we get to the quarters and he doesn't have Necas/Zadina together then he should be fired before the puck drop.

So Kern and Hrabik are 99 borns that were never drafted... these seem the epitomy of the 99 love affair that Varada has.
So is Mikyska... 99 born, undrafted.... starting to see a trend here. Hey look at that, Jakub Pour.. undrafted and 99 born.

Varada clearly has his guys that he won with and will ride them to the end.

Well, to even go through to the QF, we need to beat Denmark first. It can be tougher game than some may think. The Danes have nothing to lose, they can only pleasantly surprise by going through, the Czechs are facing the danger of total disaster in this tournament. If guys come to the ice not precisely focused, the potential disaster can easily become reality.

Yup, I agree with Wooren. 3-2 game. Maybe we win.. maybe we don't. I'd love to see Varada give us optimal lines and blow them out 5-0 but I doubt it.

I had a feeling something like might eventually happen if he had a few bad games, but it's happening probably a week too late for him to play at this tournament. Don't agree with the decision either, as there's no way Chytil should be scratched or on the 4th, but Czech's have now filled all their slots.
