It's kinda funny that Russia, the Czechs, and Sweden, all laden with NHLers, seem to be struggling somewhat, while Finland's just happily chugging along with their Liiga players.

In the name of honesty, though, I'm guessing a big part of it is that most of Finland's team has now spent weeks together, while the NHL reinforcements of the other three are still seeking their sea legs. So the situation probably won't persist, especially once we get to the final stage of the WHC.

Hope? If they play like this, we won't even reach the qualifying rounds. Luckily enough, we won't face the Czechs on cocaine every game.

But I'm not worried. It doesn't matter what these games end. It's what they can improve from them.

It's a nice win... but, ultimately, means nothing. Most important thing out of these games is no injuries. Something tells me, if we meet in real World's, that your team will be much more dominant.

I was happy with how good the Czechs looked as they have looked pretty ordinary in the exhibition games so far. Happy for Bartosak!

Lol lehner snubbed. Not a good outlook for the future.
Come on, this team doesn't exactly succeed or fall depending on the goalie. Lundqvist and Markström are excellent goalies. It's other positions that have to dictate the game, by scoring a goal or two for example.

Lehner playing or not is a complete non-issue.

If I was a star NHLer... I wouldn't personally put too much effort into these games. Get myself used to big ice, get my legs going etc. The Extraliga and Liiga guys are going like hell trying to make the team.

I'm pretty confident we won't play like this next friday in the opener. Nylander will give this team a lift i think. Lundqvist convinced me that he is our starter in the tournament since Markström didn't impressed against Russia. Not that he was bad, but he wasn't playing lights out like Lunkan did today.

I think the Czech team usually being dominated by Swedish teams the last 10 years + many players battling for a team spot + home arena with great crowd + getting the opening (early 1-0) had alot to do with it. Hopefully this team can understand they have to play like this every game. Czech Cocaine style. Not "I want to dig myself into a hole" like against Finland at 0-0.

Sweden wasn't even close to win this game. Still they only lost 0-1 (0-3 with the empty net practicing). That's the strength of this Swedish team, even if nothing works for them, they're still difficult to defeat.

Yeah, pretty much what I said.

It is about asking him. He probably get offended. Thinking of future tournaments

As a fan from Soviet era, I was used, that every game, even a friendly one, was a must win game, but it's stupid to not admit, that situation is very different nowadays, and the most important task right now is to get going as a team.

This thread reads like Sweden's GDT... I'll try come hold the fort for today's game. EHT doesn't really matter as a tourney, but NT games are always NT games, and there are interesting players to watch in all the teams too.

Well it was created by a Swede because he thought we were flooding the roster thread with EHT game-talk.

Having followed many WC's one thing I've learned is never to count out teams early. It's all about peaking at the right time.

That’s beyond f***ing terrible. The only reason that Pettersson line looked better in the third is because the Czechs dialed down the tempo. Lets hope they crash and burn quickly this game because in the long run neither loui nor Hörnqvist should be seen as top 6 players.

Yeah, putting Bratt on 3rd while having Eriksson+Hörnqvist on 1st is... idk what they're thinking.

I even like Loui and Hörnqvist but shit like this.. I can’t really.. Remove any semblance of offensive help. I mean they just don’t play that kind of game, well Loui did like 5-6 years ago.

Game against Russia was a pure friendly, Czechs were good but we didn't really take the fight to score. So it's time to get going in this one, yes Ekholm and Nylander and perhaps a few more will be coming but we have more than enough to dominate here.

Even the SVT guy didn’t understand that first line.

Kempe would be an all star if he had slightly better hockey sense.

Pettersson purposely being awful so Grönborg will switch up the lines :sarcasm:
