Sweden showing what Loui is good at in one game, that Vancouver hasn't figured out in several seasons. It's kind of funny, considering he's very NA in his game. He's not a complete player, but he's so good around the net.

how is that not a penalty shot?
The only reasons I can see: 1) a ref interpretation. Maybe they considered the slash to only be minory (not preventing the shot) or... 2) they feel Russia got the shaft in this game, regardless how undisciplined they've played.

The Swedish commentators are praising the boldness of the Russian coach to pull the goalie so early. I distinctively disagree. Why? For the reason that happened. Modern hockey players are laughably skilled at hitting the empty net from wherever on the ice. It's a stupid strategy too early, it's doom. Not that I officially criticize it in a practice game.

edit: Kucherov. What a beast.

If it works it works, if it doesn't you look stupid.

I love, how Gusev - Malkin - Kucherov line looked minus Malkin's penalties. And another game to display, how bad KHL defense is comparing to NHL one.

Yeah, Russia seriously need their NHL defensemen, badly. It's just like for Sweden with the difference between SHL and NHL defensemen, it's night and day. They learn to react so much faster when they play in the NHL. Most goals tonight were because either team had too many KHL/SHL players on the ice.

But even anyhow, when Russia have their full set of NHL star players, I will hide behind a pillow when I watch Russia have the puck in your defensive zone. It's scary quality.

KHL forwards didn't look that bad, they scored 2 out of 3 goals for Russia (and the 3rd goal was scored by a KHL defenseman), it's defense, where the gap is huge.

That's what I said. Russia needs its NHL defensemen. Then it'll be a very scary team.

Nah, we don't have good defensemen in the NHL as well. Provorov didn't look great this past season, and Zaitsev, Orlov, Lyubushkin, Sergachev, Kulikov aren't defensive stalwarts.

Well I still think a lot of it is the ice surface, those small spots around the net are bigger here.

Other than that Bratt was even better than I expected.

Can anyone explain why "Carlson" hockey game though?
Never heard of Carlson, only that Radisson group?
Carlson is a sponsor if this tournament. It's Czech company producing engine oils, car cosmetics etc.
