Just curious as I might have to get rid of cable in the near future and I was wondering if someone could tell me which tv providers carry nesn and the prices of the providers? Also, if any provide internet that would be great too.

TIA

Most providers have dropped NESN. Besides Xfinity I believe that your only options are Fubo, Directv, or Directv Stream. I'm not sure of prcing so you'll have to look that up.

Is there any streaming service where I can get NESN but also be able to record games?

I often don’t watch games in real time and I love the DVR aspect of cable.

Any suggestions?

I think that Fubo has a cloud DVR but check their site to confirm. But if you go to Fubo for NESN then Fubo does not have TNT so you'd miss the TNT games, and then playoff games after Round 1 go to TNT and I suppose ESPN so you'd have to switch to something like Youtube TV or I guess Eyestream to get TNT.

ESPN+ has most of the Bruins games. You can get a Hulu, ESPN, Disney subscription for $15/month.
Aren't you blacked out in-market? I use ESPN+ to watch the B's, but I live in NYC so I get blacked out for NYR, NYI, and NJ games.

I'm moving back to the Boston area this summer though so this thread is timed well. I can't believe cable is still trying to be a thing. It's useless today. They need to move on. I'm not about to get Xfinity after not having cable for 7 years.

The RSN model is broken. Most providers have dropped RSNs because most of their subscribers actually don't watch the RSN so the providers do not want to make all of their subscribers pay the increased RSN cost for the few that do watch the RSN.

Does it offer recording, DVR, or delayed watching, pausing, etc? I usually have to pause the game a lot during bedtime for the kiddo, or start the game late on DVR, etc. The other streaming services I tried screwed it up, and I'd be halfway through a game and it would skip to the last 2 minutes.
I'm in the same boat. There were some...ahem...services...that did this, and even had nice little configurable preset keys to skip ahead x# of minutes. It recently went byebye.

Unfortunately, cable is still the only reasonably simple method of consumption for hockey that I'm aware of. If you're watching live then there's always a way, but for the late night recorders and day-later DVR-ers, cable is the only way.

They offer it but I have never used it

NOW - Apparently NESN and YouTubeTV are close to a deal as NESN and Xfinity just signed a deal that lowers what NESN was charging and in return Xfinity will have a new NESN 4K Channel for the Red Sox and first-round Bruins games.

Look we all know there are pirate websites and some of them are notorious for virus and malware issues.

There is one site that everybody in hockey knows about that has no issues and its internet domain is the hockey hotbed of IRAN. The NHL and Disney are well aware of them but :dunno:

When I was in the hospital 3 months ago the wifi was spotty for video services but this one worked.

Unfortunately, NESN is not widely available, especially to "cord cutters."

There are alternatives.

Feel free to PM me for more info.

Good luck,

Fenway,

Trust you are well. I did not follow up, I apologize.

Others:

There are, ah, alternatives. Fenway has mentioned his. There are others. Dig a bit.

Beyond that, as Fenway notes, these sites can be dodgy.

Don't commit to anything involving "required" $ or membership. Don't submit any personal info, financial or otherwise.

IF you're intellignent, which of course you are, you can figure it from there. When opening a link, three times is often the charm.

Take care,

There's seemingly been a surge of different paid streaming services that offer sport viewing lately. Have to make sure the one you choose carries all your teams and favorite sports.

This sport surge on the net stuff can be hard to follow for the tech illiterate like myself.

Hopefully YouTubeTV brings back NESN.

I'd happily pay a reasonable subscription to just watch Bruins games, legally and without any worries of blackouts or not having access to the correct "package".

Since they make that hard and/or only available by purchasing all these extra things that I don't need. No cable for me.

It's very sad, but the illegal ways to find streams are worlds easier and involve less clicking. NHL tv + VPN used to be the best legal way to do it. I heard it's worse now.

When NESN first came along in 1984 fans were LIVID they had to pay $10 a month ($26.11 today) for home games or $15 a month ($39.17 today) if you wanted the Celtics as well AND back then many cities still didn't have cable including Boston and Cambridge.

I think we can all agree that there should be an option that allows us to buy access to every Bruins game for a reasonable monthly fee as long as you have internet access anywhere on the planet and also the option of getting every NHL game.

I wouldn't hold my breath relative to YouTube bringing back NESN.

There is indeed a "sports surge" on the internet.

If one seeks a "sports surge,* one may find it. A "sports surge" on the internet can be found.

I hate the whole blackout thing. And their definition of a viewing area is questionable. Apparently Indiana is in the Chicago and St. Louis markets? Silly.

Don’t RSNs get a cut from ESPN+ since they provide the content? I guess it must be a lot less than from local cable subscriptions.

I am trying Fubo for this season. They also have NHL network. I have youtube tv too. Fubo has a recording capabitlity. the playback is fine through a browser but on Roku, it isn't user friendly. Also it get confused when the game goes into the schedule after game times. It basically stops recording. So just imagine 5 mins left in a tied game and the recording stops. The video quality is very good. And I love the ability to view in a browser.

Unfortunately, hockey (and NESN) are behind the times when it comes to providing options for their product to their fans. For me, I will subscribe to USA Today and read the box scores before I go back to cable.
