Current state of the Boards

I don't remember my specific post count prior to this (around the 14'000-16'000 range) but I probably lost over 5000+posts and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Any chance those of us who lost a good portion get some of them back?

...does that silly numbers really matter, though, when they have more important shyte to fix??... :dunno:

I have a few posts where I've posted stats and I just copy and paste if I need to use them again, but that's easily accessible on other hockey stat sites so for me personally it's not a huge deal.

However, I know of some posters that put a ton of research in their HOH posts.. hopefully they have that stuff backed up somewhere if it ended up being removed.

If its not the TDL killing the page every year its something else....bunch of the old posts can stay gone. I hate when people feel the need to bring up long dead threads any way.

I lost some information when the board was updated in (I think?) 2017. Since then, I've saved copies of all my data. It would be a huge manual effort to re-upload everything, of course, but ultimately the data isn't lost. (I'm certain the same would be true for pnep and overpass).

The reddits are far less thoughtful and intelligent IMHO. Our team's subreddit seems mostly to be an upvote party with very little active discussion or disagreement, save a few posters. Say something slightly negative or challenging? Downvoted to oblivion. Also very little knowledge about the cap, the league, etc... Surface level shit.

This old Internet haven is holding on by its fingertips but I'll be extremely sad if it ever dies.

Reddit in a nutshell. It's such an echo chamber. People rarely post dissenting opinions because A) If enough people downvote you nobody will see your post anyways and B) They just want their flowers from a bunch of random people on the internet.

Thats why HFB is good. For one, we all argue and have actual discussions. Two, if people dont like what you said and its within the rules, too bad its staying. It can't be hidden due to down votes.

Just wondering why I’m getting ads on mobile (maybe desktop too, haven’t checked) when I’m a site sponsor?

Because the sponsorships got boofed if they happened in the interim. See my note right above yours and we can take care of it.

It’s a strange thought, but at this stage I’m pretty sure I keep up with the NHL because I’m highly engaged on HF, not the other way around.

Don’t get me wrong, I like hockey well enough. But the reactions and discussion on here are what make 95% of it relevant enough to hold my attention day-by-day. If I were just watching it like a TV show without coming on here to react/discuss/argue about the day’s news, I don’t think I’d make it through a 9 month season before drifting off to something else.

So there’s a decent chance I actually might stop following hockey day-to-day if HF shuts down. I’m definitely not going to go to Reddit or Twitter, which are good for finding content but impossible for having a meaningful discussion.
This, i really only follow the Oilers. I only watch oiler games, This site is what keeps me updated on stuff happening around the league.

I couldn't name a roster player on the blackhawks or Sharks not named Celebrini or Bedard without looking them up.

You're gonna need to be more specific, do you mean alerts like where reactions alert, just the red number at the top? There are a lot of options in preferences

I turned like 30 notifications off involving Sportsbook and I still got 19 bloody notifications.
