Is Pinto a shooter?

Gaudette is a shooter and I think he needs to play with more offensive players in order to get the best value out of him. I would like to see Gaudette get more time on a top 1 or 2 line to see if some chemistry might develop. Would need 10 games or so to try it out.

Pinto seems to be a solid 2-way player but not that offensively gifted; 3C seems to be his best placement.

Perron has been playing like a third liner, as does Amadio. Pinto might work out for the best with those 2.

I miss Joseph's speed and feistiness.

He's averaged almost 20 G/82 the last 2 seasons, so he's shown he's reasonably capable at putting the puck in the net, but that was elevated in the lineup with Norris out for most of it. I figured if they'll try Greig there, why not Pinto, but doubt it happens. It just seems like there's 5 true top 6 forwards and the 6th is sort of shoe horned in with Grieg currently. I'm not opposed to Grieg staying there or Gaudette getting a shot higher up at some point as well. Perron and Amadio seem best suited for staying in the bottom 6, but I'm sure Perron will be tried if he returns. Norris-Stutzle-Giroux-Tkachuk-Batherson are the indisputable top 6 guys imo, it's that 6th guy in question.

I liked Joseph too, but don't think he'd be the answer up there either. He's one of those super speedy guys that I referenced that can get miscast because of that skill. He had the best scoring season of his career last year and still barely broke 10 goals, so that's where I think you're better off with more offensively talented players, even if they're slower, if that's your choice.

I am a big believer in Pinto, I think he will be a better 2-way player. Norris slots better in the top-6, but both are 2C material/low key 1C in a pinch. At the moment.

Both will get better, so that’s super exciting. Once we have a decent 3rd pair I think this team will compete against anyone but needs to get and stay healthy.

THAT was caused by the previous owner (cost cutting) and the GM (bad trades).

It is worrisome, particularly at forward. Yak looks like a top D prospect to me, so we are OK there for now.

I don't mind trading most of our mid and later round picks away for roster improvements and useful depth players. Instead of hunting for these needle in the haystack players like Bath and Stone. The trade value of those picks is higher over time.

But the pendulum has shifted too far. Our lack of depth is now hurting our flexibility. We've got no good callups available. We should have guys knocking down the door, pushing some of our roster guys into tradeable asset territory.

Good deep teams can afford to move good players to stock the cupboards. They have equivalent talent to step in. We've got a massive dropoff immediately after the roster.

IMO Stützle needs better wingers. Giroux and Perron are too slow to be on a line together, and Greig hasn’t been producing enough (although he got a couple points last night), so I’d rather keep Batherson with him for now.

I don’t find bath and stu to be complimentary. I wouldn’t say Giroux and perron are slow. They can keep up. Greig or gregor are options too.
It’s just to support Stutzle. He pretty much does everything himself. And is excellent at it.

Perron with pinto is good too if you go with a faster defensive option for stu.

I don’t think they are the best fit necessarily, although they also just haven’t played together much. Maybe they can build some chemistry even though they have different styles.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Perron - Stützle - Batherson when Perron is back. Give Pinto either Giroux or Greig because I think our third line hasn’t been productive enough.

Why would we change the lines if over the last 3 games, we've got a 68.09% xGF share, 70.97 HDCF% and 62.26 SCF%?

The skaters have been doing their part, there's no need to shake things up just because Ullmark had a bad game.

I want to see that again.

But agree with the argument as well. It’s not a big deal I just want to see it.

I'd prefer Gregor over Cousins or MacEwen because Gregor is a penalty killer, I really don't understand taking him out when he was one of our primary PK guys, but I guess Green isn't happy enough with him in that role to keep his spot in the lineup.

That said, the 4th line has been the least of our problems, whether you like Cousins or not, they have been effective as a group, so I get not wanting to change that line.

I'd try something like this:

Tkachuk-Stu-Greig
Perron-Norris-Giroux
Amadio-Pinto-Batherson
Cousins-Gaudette-MacEwen/Gregor


The centers are pretty interchangeable, though Stu should be on one of the top two imo. Batherson and Greig can flip too, if they do, Amadio would go on the right, and Greig on the left.
