Who do you want the Devils to take at #2 assuming Wright goes 1st overall?

It makes no sense to me that the Habs want Wright but are trying to play hardball to get an extra asset and pick Wright at 2. It makes more sense to me that they want Slaf but don't want to be the team to take him at #1.

As superstars go, they've had Subban, a few years of Price, maybe Weber if you squint, that one season of Jose Theodore, and that's about it for 25 years. There’s also a Conspiracy Theorist who’s convinced that Wright would be an uncontested 1OA if Toronto had the pick and this debate is all a product of anti-Habs bias (this includes the machinations of Leafs fan Bob McKenzie and his manipulated “poll”).

I don't see any way Gauthier falls out of the top 7. Button's mock is already screwed because Columbus hasn't taken someone under 6'0 with their top pick in the past decade and haven't taken a Finn with their top pick ever. I don't see them starting now because Button loves Kemell.

Personally, I think Gauthier goes #3 to Arizona. We'll see how it shakes out, but the fact that Boston College is returning him full time to his old position of center definitely changes the outlook. Gauthier is a very uncommon prospect, I'd say the last guy remotely like him was Brady Tkachuk. He's also potentially the best goal-scorer from the 2022 class, and an Arizona native.

But you're right indeed that we will have to wait and see.

Can't come soon enough. I can't go on Twitter for fear that I'll see another trade proposal of #2 overall, Dawson Mercer and Alex Holtz for DeBrincat.
