Yea I don't agree with this at all. Nico also vibed really well with Taylor Hall who had the puck 99% of the time.
Hall isn’t remotely similar to Jack Hughes and he didn’t have the puck or control the puck as much in transition whatsoever. So different.
It’s not that Nico has the puck all the time. It’s that he’s much more likely to carry the puck than get the puck and make a nice quick slip to someone else like Wright.

Yes he did.

BTW,

Whenever I see something like this : "League sources seem somewhat skeptical they will take Wright, or at least they don’t view this as the likeliest scenario."

It might as well be "Well League sources don't know anything more than we do on what the Devils and Fitz will do on Draft night".

Because unless Fitz outright told them that he would be a bit hesitant to draft Wright (should the Habs draft Slaf), their so-called "skepticism" on this is unfounded.

Also, in the future, if someone posts a blurb from somewhere, kindly put up the link for it. Thanks.

(oh and don't be a jerk; you know who you are)

Yeah, I don't think Montreal would do that for a 7th rounder realistically, especially with the draft in Montreal.

Yeah there's also huge marketing value (especially for casuals) to be able to say come watch the first overall pick play. So even if they only wanted Wright and knew they could still get him ar #2, I think it would have to be A LOT more than a 7th, maybe even more than a 3rd round pick for them to trade down.

I don’t want to play hard ball. Slaf is BPA. If Montreal thinks that Slaf is better than Wright, but Wright + compensation is better for them than Slaf, I will give them compensation, if it is reasonable. Mercer, Grits, Luke, Holtz than no. If they wants second round pick or even Shaq or Stillman - I’m in. I want quality over quantit. And I want really talented player. Slaf is the player. May be they are trying to outplay us, so I’m ok. Who cares, give me Slaf. Just imagine we would draft with second overall in 2019 and rangers want to play hard ball with us and saying they will draft Hughes, if we will not give them 2oa plus 2nd round pick plus good prospect.
Slaf isn’t Hughes, but he is one of the best prospect for the first pick after Mcdavid, Matthews and Hughes. Wright is better than Nico offensively, but worser defensively. And offensive gap isn’t that big.
it’s not even the question for me. Because Slaf is really good prospect. He is awesome prospect and is a great fit. If they want something reasonable - they could say they did want Wright from the beginning. I don’t care. Because we will draft Slafkovsky.

I know it’s not a popular opinio, but I don’t care. Because Slaf is much better. If I have an option to have batter player without hurting the team - I will make a move. Especially when we talk about star potential player, who will perfectly fit the team.

Shakir really? I thought you liked him. We finally got him to NA so I wanna see a full season in AHL. I thought he looked like Utica's best Dman in the few playoff games he played?

Stillman I don't think has any value, he looks like one of the worst devils 1st round picks right now.

Yeah I like him very much. But we can’t use all of our prospects in the roster. I’m not saying “ let’s trade two top assets like Wright + top prospect for awesome prospect”, but I m in for give them one asset plus good assets. Like everybody say “quality over quantity”.
we have tonns of left defensemen. We should capitalize on that. If we can add one of the best power wingers in recent years with even better skating and playmaking than M Tkachuk in his draft year - I’m in. Ofcourse if we can safe Shaq and trade for Slaf, I would be even more happy.

I'm just imagining HFBoards going nuts lf we traded up and had THREE first overalls on our team.

I think people are downplaying the hilarity factor of us trading up to 1 and picking Wright. The Habs fanbase would go scorched earth and burn everything to the ground.
I`m Slafkovsky guy, but this is more than McDavid talent. Rage of canadiens fans would be dangerous. It could be the most fun thing on the earth. From any side.

So how could that work? Habs keep pick #1 , handshake deal they take Wroght instead of Slaf , and we give / trade them an asset in exchange for “future considerations” ?
Enables Montreal to keep the #1 and draft first In front of their fans and both teams end up happy .
Only part I don’t like is we potentially get out thought and manouvered where Montreal wanted Wright the entire time and tricked us into giving up asstets that really didnt need to be added.
Whatever. I’m fine with paying a little to ensure we get Slaf . Or do we try to call their bluff and just take whoever is left at #2?

Perevalov at #70 is just silly.

Ali at #166 is a great, great pick. He's one of the best athletes in the draft, plays physical and can fly. You like the fast guys.
Nope. It could be reality. There is a huge precedent with Fedotov. I think this is the initiative of an individual offended functionary and soon this story will come to naught here, but this story will not soon be forgotten on the other side of the ocean. If it comes to nothing at all. We live in a difficult time.

I think ideally for the Habs we would make a handshake deal where they stil, go to the podium first / keep pick #1 , take Wright , we give them an asset for future considerations and take Slaf
