Cup Planning: Montreal Bars Move Last Call to 5:30a

With the bars closing at 530, what time do you guys usually go out at? Here they close at 2 and most people go out at 11-12 somewhere in there. We usually start drinking at like 6 or 7.

I think people will simply stay out longer, or go pub crawling longer. Say I wouldn't go out at 1-2 AM just because bars close at 6, especially since the last metro is at 1 something AM.

Well above it. What's your point?

Alcohol consumption is pointless and turns people into idiots at best and dangerous savages at worst.

Well I'm pretty sure having a glass or two of wine a day is not unhealthy, in fact it can be healthy. It's something where you can have a relaxing or fun time, or just a nice drink with dinner. It's not just for "dangerous savages," believe it or not. I had a couple beers with dinner and I didn't "turn into an idiot."

When I was 18-22 this might have impacted me. I rarely go out past 12-1 now. I'm quite content being an old man and staying home on the weekend and getting to sleep at a relatively early time.

I'm speaking within the context of this thread.

People won't stay at bars until 5:30 AM to sip a glass of wine. They do it to get **** faced drunk.

Not just alcohol turns people dangerous or savage. Getting old too!

I dont normally stay out at bars until 2am. I usually leave by 1. How many bars actually have alot of people at 3:00am?

I assume people will take advantage of it for the first week or two, but it will settle down after a while.

I wont be surprise if the project leads to bars staying open till 6 during the summer season only and in downtown tourist areas only.
