Buff for Wayne Simmonds and Erik Gustafsson? I am a Buff supporter but I don't think I'll be too upset with a trade like this.

Evander Kane is FURIOUS.

At least we have physical evidence that somebody cares on this team.

I've always liked Kane. He has always had that edge to his game and he is a competitor and hates to lose. You can see that. Too bad he's on a team where no one actually shares his mentality.

maybe in 5 years we will be good enough to fight for the third seed in the conference again.....heres hoping!

By the time this long long long term building plan brings in enough depth and talent Ladd, Kane, Wheeler, etc... will all have gone UFA and be playing for someone else.

And the cycle of patience and long long long term plan begins again.

Coach Noel (on Buff): "This isn't the first time that they have put a puck at the net & he is standing beside the guy without taking stick. So after awhile you just can't continue down that road. If you're not going to make changes, don't play!"

Good to see he noticed it.

I said it last year. Buff is the kind of player that is going to win you 10 games but is also the type of player that is going to lose you 15. Its addition by subtraction. He is a fan favorite so you get some flack for speaking out against him.

that was terrible...this team looks mentally defeated with zero confidence. They look like they won't win a game all year. It's sad to watch.

Chevy said he wants to build through the draft....does he hope the prospects we have now make the difference in one to three years? Will Schiefle/Trouba/Lowry be enough when Enstrom/Buff/Wheeler are over 30?

Personally I don't think so. That leaves the draft. The older core could gain enormous amounts of young talent. For Wheeler/Buff and Enstrom could return you three firsts and probably two to three other solid prospects.

f your going to build through the draft why not go all the way and add as much as you can to the Kane/Burmi/Schiefle/Trouba/Burmistrov/Lowry/Bogosian group and build up a great group of 18 to 23 year olds?

I think this is the right way to go...how does a combo of Monohan/Pulock/Shinkaruk sound? and more?

Chevy must have thought about this...hopefully he can make something like this happen at the draft. It's difficult to say goodbye to important veterans but if you think the draft is the way to go....well h***, go all the way.

This place is something else
Why does this shock you?
All the experts said we would finish 14th and everyone here lost their ****
I told you they were a bubble team at best

really?

we were 6 points in the lead as the third seed 2 weeks ago...did you predict that too?

there is no excuse for the last 10 games....were you not excited then and are you not disappointed now?...or were you saying 2 weeks ago, forget it we are a bubble team, we will win 2 of our next 10 games.

Chevy doesn't escape blame, the Jokinen fail is on him.

I don't blame Chevy on that one. Jokinen was the best FA center available in the off season and he got him. It just not a good fit for joker or maybe we overestimated how good he would be. Will have to see what he does next year.

Were we watching the same game? :shakehead

Yup - I'm not a "chicken little; the sky is falling" fan. I'm sitting here enjoying a beer after a fun evening test driving the wife's new Bimmer, watching my favourite game with my beloved Jets, and reading all the doom and gloom posts. :yo:

Do you really believe the Jets just played the worst game of professional hockey ever? You can't possibly think this is the worst game the Jets 2.0 have ever played, can you? The team far exceeded my expectations by going on the extended win streak and moving into third in the conference, and are now in the midst of a losing streak, which has seen them drop into a tie with the Caps. They're a bubble team, and if they make the playoffs I will be very happy with that. If they don't, well, I wasn't expecting them to do so anyway.

It just amuses me to read all the negativity; the gnashing of teeth over Chevy not making any moves, the wailing about how lousy the Jets are. If they had won this game, the thread would have exploded with congratulations and "I told you so"s. It's exactly the same as a Leaf's PGT.

I lived through a season where the Jets won a total of 9 games out of an 82 game season. If I can survive that, this little bump in the road is just a blip on the radar screen, and should be put into perspective.

There's lots of improvements needed by this team, but to consign them to top 5 lottery draft pick after a five game losing streak, while they're still tied with the Caps for third is fairly irrational in my books. Frankly, the Jets were not as bad as this thread would indicate, and they played not badly. This is not the "Mickey Mouse" Devils from 1982, but most of the poster tonight would have me believing that's the situation.

I was looking at how our playoff chances were last year as compared to this year and we are going in the same rollercoaster pattern. With a full dive in the month of April.

You won't get Simmer for Buff.

To try and boost your moods, Flyers are hot and have won 4 in a row, but Kimmo go hurt tonight and we ar down to 1 NHL damn for Sat. It ain't over for Jets yet, I am digging out he Jofa and waiting for Holmers call to play Sat :)

I think even casual fans are beginning to see the wort's in Buff's game, his lack of intensity this season is troubling not a guy you build around.

Chevy doesn't escape blame, the Jokinen fail is on him.

How does Jokinen fall on him? How is he responsible for a player having a sharp and unexpected regression? Weren't you one of the people here celebrating that we got a "true #1 center capable player"? All Chevy can do is sign players. Our top need was a big centerman and Jokinen was by far the best center available on the UFA market. Chevy did his best, its on the player for not performing.

Jokinen was on a downward spiral long before he came to Winnipeg.

Meh, half the fun for me in being a fan is planning the parade when we win and thinking we all suck when we lose. When I played serious hockey I never got too emotional about anything and always tried to remain positive, yet realistic. Now that I'm not playing I love getting fired up when we win, even if I get down when we lose (which usually only lasts until the next time we win).

It's most fun (for me at least) to be more emotionally invested than just to sit after every game (win or loss) with no real emotion.

I also just flat-out hate to lose at anything.

There were only 80 games in the 1980 season.

So no you didn't live through an 82 game, 9 win season.

Jokinen had 54 and 61 points in the last two seasons. Even with a major regression you would atleast peg him at 40 points. I don't think a single soul expected how bad Olli was going to be.

This team still has a legitimate chance of making the playoffs. Hainsey is part of the top 4 D core. Neither of those statements is inaccurate.

You can also say since we play in the nhl we have a shot at winnig the cup this year...... While not inaccurate it is borderline delusional imo
