The Kings simply weren't ever going to place Andreoff (or McNabb) on waivers. They spent a lot of time developing him and liking what they've seen. This was over seasons, not a training camp or a couple of exhibition games. There was zero chance that someone they signed off the scrap heap in Cracknell, who ANY team could've signed and didn't, was going to beat out a homegrown product. Some team may actually claim Cracknell and/or Schultz, but I doubt it.

Pretty much doubt it as well. Rosters are set. Both are going to end up in Manchester.

Based on what? That it took until the final day of camp to beat out Adam 'Butt' Cracknell?

Caused preseason/camp is the tell of tales. Andreoff needs some time to adjust to the NHL, just like King and Pearson. We have enough scoring forwards up front, Andreoff gives us toughness and decent potential of a Dwight King or Stoll

Well, that and the Kings do value Schultz and Cracknell otherwise they wouldn't have signed them. You waive them when everyone else is being waived as there are more options to claim out there.

I hope Cracknell DOES get picked up, so we can stop having threads about him.

Schultz was given a 2 year deal specifically to put off teams from claiming him. And I think it will work.

I love how people are judging pre season… when some of the most important games (SJ, Avs in CO Springs) weren't even televised. Give me a break. Unless you were there, you have no way of knowing how these guys performed. Gotta believe Dean and Co know what they're doing by now...

Okay, I will amend my original post. Here.

From the games I saw on television, Andreoff underwhelmed me completely.

Better now?

I just don't get it... the team needs more toughness and has enough scoring? The 26th ranked offense last year has enough scoring?

With Sutter phasing out fighting on the Kings I'm not really sure what Andy has to bring?

I guess I don't really care what Sutter does for a line up as long as Clifford/Nolan/Lewis/Andy are all kept on the 4th line.... No more Lewis/Carcillo in the top 6... ever... I don't care how many injuries there are...

Side note.... Anyone think Lewis could be taught how to pass and maybe turned into an older more expensive Pearson?

He looked brutal on D during the Ducks game... I saw that with my own eyes.... Didn't seem overly comfortable at center at the NHL (preseason) level.

Bottom line Andy is behind King/Pearson/Toffoli/Clifford/Nolan/Lewis... (I know this because they've all come up through the Kings system) He's going to have a hard time getting out of the press box and then he'll be looking at 4th line time.... not sure those are the conditions someone is going to have a "breakout" year from.

Not getting my hopes up.

Actually, Cracknell looked like a steady NHL player (4th liner) this pre season.

Andreoff looked like how he is, an AHL player getting use to the system. His blown coverage in one of the first pre season games was certainly evident of that.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that Weal is competing for the same role as Andreoff. Weal isn't going to be a checking forward or a power forward. Andreoff is.

Lewis could be a top-fifty player in the league if his hands weren't made of stone.

So Lumbus trying to get even with the Carter and Gaborik thefts.

LOL

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Alright, not the end of the world obviously but it would have been nice to have a merited and proven guy like that ready late in the season in case of injuries. From what I could tell he looked pretty good in camp.

I agree with this reasoning. However i really doubt hes going to make the kings as a top 6 player. Who do you see him beating out ? Only hope he has to me is if Richards fails and so far it doesn't look that way to me. So imo hes going to be trade bait for a deadline deal.

More of an injury replacement than anything at this point. (Weal)
