With a career high 18 points I think "AWESOME" might be a bit overstated.
You're not signing Larsson because you think he scores 30 points. You sign him because Crouse-Larsson-Pitlick can play 15 minutes a night against the hardest competition in the league and hold their own -- and make opposing teams hate them.

We're forming an identity. We're not there yet but it's a start. Certainly better than "speedy guys who occasionally try".

Outside of a small handful of guys I want to remove basically everyone who embarrassed the organization with those back-to-back 7-1 playoff losses.

Please make that line happen, Tocchet.

This. If you think Richardson is good at Defense, you need to watch Larsson, he's way better and will put up the same points. He is a beast, great, great signing.

I'm excited about what he can do with all the empty cap space, free agency, and all the other team's worried about the expansion draft next summer. Armstrong apparently sees the team through the same lens I do. And that's exciting.
Flipside, if he's a massive failure, you'll know to discount all my years of bitching.

We've complained about not being tough and not being able to hold our own and get pushed around all year, then when we sign someone who will grind it out and protect our stars we criticize them for not putting up enough points. Never change, forum 40.

I definitely like the make up of this team more now than I did a week ago.

Our roster is so much more well rounded now. Just need a new HC who can the most out of the top 6 now...

Keller-Dvorak-Schmaltz
Garland-Hayton-Kessel
????-Stepan-Fischer
Crouse-Larsson-Pitlick

Bottom two lines take all the tough matchups, help to shelter the top 2. TOI might be quite balanced among all the lines depending on who we're playing. Also we're quite heavy at RW and light on LW..

Buffalo fans seems to think their team blundered. Really nice to see.

That lineup gets smoked on the road, though haha

We're not a very good team. There aren't any great lineup combinations. Mostly just giving you grief. But Hayton-Kessel seems like a disaster unless we're giving them 10 minutes a night. We already tried Keller-Dvo-Schmaltz and it bled goals 5v5. We've got to trade Schmaltz if Buffalo is interested. At least it might open up some options 5v5.

Larsson is so much more than points. If you want to see some crazy usage, Housley basically only had his line start in the defensive zone for the better part of two seasons. He's a good shot suppressor, has some angry/pointy parts to his game and is smart. He's been wallowing in a checking role in Buffalo for forever, but it wouldn't surprise me with a more even distribution of zone time to see him in the mid-20 point range. Gunna miss Angry Larry...

Hope he continues to do what he did in Buffalo for the Coyotes.

Larsson was actually +8 over last season. On Buffalo. I know goals against on the PK don't count, but this was still good to notice.

All his metrics are + too (xGF and the like). That while being absolutely buried in defensive zone starts against quality opponents. Larsson might not do much scoring, but he's an absolute workhorse defensively. Can't believe the Sabres paid Girgensons $2.2M but let Larry walk.

Looks like the Sabres are replacing him with Cody Eakin ... 2 years, 2.25 per

I like Eakin a lot, and talked about adding him. But Eakin isn't getting any younger, and Eakin at over two or Larsson at a bit over 1 is a pretty easy choice. Weird that Buffalo would do that.

Does not look like a top line any opponent will fear.
