He really is though. Plays a simple game, good on the boards and down low. Retrieve the puck for Mika and Bread and let them go.

Its no mistake they scored when he was on the ice with them on Sunday.

The 2019-2020 New York Rangers. Now with more line combinations!

Why not put Lias between Skjei and Staal at this point. I know Howden is getting lots of shit on here but he should not be playing between Kakko and Kreider

Mike Gartner?
You got it.! Mike Gartner is correct.

Wish he was part of the 94 team but I guess Neil Smith made the right move to trade him. Still wonder if we could have won without making that trade and keeping Tony Amonte. We'll never know! But I loved both of those guys.

Funny enough, Amonte would have been my second guess for the trivia after Gartner. But Amonte isn't in the Hockey Hall of Fame - only the US Hockey Hall of Fame haha.

Ya that 20 points he put up last season is probably going to do wonders to help that line.
Ya the actual player that’ll go two deep for a puck, hard in the offensive zone would do wonders to help the line.

Since mostly every entree one man goes in for the puck. And with a blink of an eye, the puck is back in the neutral zone. So yeah I’d rather have Fast playing a lot of minutes doing that with Mika and Panarin.

We got rid of the dumb GM in Montreal...but I hear there's one in the making in Vancouver.
I mean, did they really give TB a 1st for JT? And we could barely squeeze out a couple of "pitentials" a 3rd liner and an "if" for McD AND JT? WTF?

There is more to that. What happen when they pass him the puck and the play dies like it does normally when he has it?

main thing is that Fast isn't a long term solution on the 1st line
BUt he was a spark for the team the other night and this is both a reward and an example for the rest of the forwards.

Not for nothing but, who were the gunslingers Fast played with last year? 4th line for the most part. He could have had 40 as he retrieves the puck very well and with any kind of shooter(s) playing with him would have gotten him 20 extra assists (albeit secondary ones)

He was on the 4th line for a reason.. And he played more than his fair share on the 3rd and didn't produce.

You know what they say -- there's one born every minute....just have to find the right one.

I'm not understanding the displeasure of Fast on the top-line. By himself he isn't a 1st line player but whoever plays with those guys isn't going to have the puck much. It's go get the puck and find either Zibanejad or Panarin and give it to them. He's intelligent enough to find soft areas and make good plays with the puck.

When the Pens tried Hagelin, Dupuis, Kunitz and many others with Crosby and Malkin over the years did people see them as 1st liners? of course not. They had their role on the line and were able to get pucks to their more skilled line mates who could make plays.

Not sexy enough.
