Why did they admit fault if this was the punishment? May as well have fought it to the end.
Maybe they did and this was the best case scenario. Maybe that is why it took so long.

Someone remind me - do we not also lose our 2021 1st if we resign Hall? And if so, does that mean we lose our 2022 1st to comply with this penalty?

Edit, I got it wrong.

Would lose the second in 2021 if Hall was resigned. The first in 21 was, if won a playoff-series, and then resigned him -this is obviously not possible anymore.

Can the team file a lawsuit against Chayka personally?
It all depends who knew about it. Maybe the team told them to go ahead. If not, this may still not be over as far as Chayka is concerned.

Serious Question: is Meruelo allowed to just fold the team and leave?
It's the perfect time to go to Houston, to be honest. Announce that because of COVID-19 they can't afford the losses or the private-funded stadium that they were pinky-swear so close to closing the deal on before the lockdowns.

Hit the new market with zero expectations.

Feels like a conspiracy to move the team honestly. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. I'm going full tinfoil hat if Chia comes in.
Teams have been fined and lost a pick for just mentioning another team's player. This is not out of order for the NHL

Which GM's and owner caused such a shit fit to get Bettman to drop the hammer like this.
Everyone who thought it didn't matter or was a "badge of honour" to be hated by the old boy's club who owns and operates the league, please step forward...

Trade everything we can for draft picks and start a six or seven year rebuild. This franchise isn't going anywhere so they may as well keep Tocchet and officially name Sullivan as GM. This is a very bad day caused by Chayka who walks away clean.

First pick in this draft for the Yotes will be 111th. Yeah, 111th. Although it will technically be the 110th given that second rounder doesn't exist anymore.
