I’d be fine if OEL was the only major Coyotes trade of this off-season.
We aren’t going to get 25 goals for 850k anywhere else outside of Kessel and I don’t have the same cultural/character concerns many of you do about Phil. I’m fine with dealing him at the deadline instead of the off-season.
I think the trade market for Kuemper is probably pretty tepid. I’m okay with the deadline for him, too. I really don’t think we’re leaving much, if anything, on the table.
It would be nice if Tourigny’s first season wasn’t a complete disaster right from the start. Kuemper and Kessel help keep it more competitive, I think.
I want Keller, Dvorak, Schmaltz, Crouse, etc to get a fresh start with a new coach. What’s the point of evaluating them another year if the team is just getting boat-raced every night?
I’m cool with just ditching OEL for dumps, crossing our fingers in the expansion draft, and trying to plug as many holes as we can with UFAs. Make sure the UFAs are hard working, high character types with good leadership ability that play a direct, forceful style of hockey.
Let’s take another year, sans Tocchet, and see what exactly we have here. Obviously sell at the deadline and try to get a good bingo ball at lottery, but until then, let’s give Tourigny and the “young core” at least a fighting chance to establish good habits and improve.
