17 of those were goalies, an elite squad of back-stoppers dedicated to being their team's last line of defense.
One man dared to defy that trend.
This is his story.

Pavel Kubina (Toronto Maple Leafs; 2007-08)


As the legend goes, Kubina wore three different jersey numbers with the Leafs, starting the 2006-07 season with the number 73 before switching part way through the season to 31. Kubina then switched numbers again to start the 2008-09 season, this time to 77.
