Berube should make each if the core four drive their own line, JT would be a outstanding 4th line centre……..
No but they need 3 scoring lines and JT is glued to countdown Marner. 4th line has to be hell to play against. Nylander needs a C.

They’re not slow but only Nylander and maybe Knies have breakaway speed that the other team needs to really worry about. Good 4 way skating and edges in that group but they’re not going to force teams to hang guys back to cover the rush or have guys hearing footsteps on the forecheck.
The Leafs can go either way, vet team and sluggish but heavy or youth and speed i.e Cowan, Minten. etc. I hope one of our young guys makes it or we may have an old team.

Maple Leafs Training Camp Preview: Battles, questions, projected roster

Mostly, though, it's more of the familiar (but legit) talent and familiar (but legit) skepticism.

Change, then, must come through culture, coaching, and consistency.

"It's a lot of the same group that we've had," Mitch Marner said this summer, with an eye toward training camp. Same faces, same expectations.

"We know we're a great team, and it's just about making sure every single summer, you put the work in, and you get ready to go and get geared up for the new one."

Such a lame, generic quote and that’s not a shot at Marner. Any of the core would have said that same canned response in some form.

Just once I’d love to hear this core say something other than “we’re a great team” or “we’re right there”. Something to the tune of “we know we’ve underachieved the past number years now and it falls on us as leaders to change that.”

Small nitpick and meaningless but it’s annoying when you hear how these guys talk in comparison to MacKinnon/McDavid/Draistail.

You will never hear that because they don’t think any of it is their fault. They are totally delusional and believe all the excuses people make for them

Its hard to win the cup.

Why are players "great" winning a few rounds but never winning the cup and players not winning rounds and not winning the cup are failures?

Just win the damn cup :)

Why are players like Clark and Domi and Tucker icons in TO? They are failures correct? Or do the goalposts move because they won a few rounds?

They had so much talent ....no cap ....so fans didnt constantly complain about their salaries. In fact most fans didnt even know what Gilmour made here.

Lets enjoy the ride....team has some new players. New coach.
