Could this be the year the Bruins finally miss the playoffs?

The old shouldn’t throw stones at glass houses applies here.

You realize leafs anemic PP got 3 goals on first game Matthew’s is out.
Yea. The coaching could not do a thing to change the powerplay. As it sat innm 31st place. And was just as impotent in play offs last April
.Happen stance - an injury to best player and leafs wilting comes alive.
Good thing they hired Savard. ha!

You do realize he's a Habs fan and has a bigger Leafs hate boner than you do?
lol.
I lived in Toronto for 20 years. Learned first hand Leaf fans are the easiest to dislike. Don't agree with me? .....ask any fan of the other six Canadian clubs.

2021 game 7 in Toronto......😉

Not sure if serious.

Boston was beat by Special Teams last night as well as them not burying the 5-7 great chances they had. Stolarz played well.

Long term, Boston has the chops to likely right the ship enough to make the playoffs. I shared what I think their weaknesses are.
Does speed and elite skill not shine during off man opportunities too? Bruins had a lot of odd man advantages too. They just don’t have the speed and elite skill to dominate (like the Leafs did) the other clubs. Heck Matthews didn’t even play.

The Bruins have now been shutout 3 times in their first 14 games.
Hmm yet have 2 shutouts in the first 14 games .. what’s your point ?

Only 68 games to go. whatever will we ever do.. ?

I guess get a Time Machine so we can go back a decade and draft better cause some always want to die on that sword.. bu but 2015 .. lol

Just curious how far have those teams got with those players we missed out on ?

He doesn’t have a point. He’s just been screaming Bruins << Leafs since 2013 and is projecting

They badly need a #1C. They overpaid for two good (but not great) players and the expectations for them were way too high. Zadorov started the season on the top pair with McAvoy and that did not last long. Now he's where he should be, on the bottom pair.

well, we missed in 2016. it's not like it's been forever

They missed with 96 points, if i recall correctly. Habs missed with 96 points as well a couple year later, but at the time, I think it set the record for most points without making the playoffs.

It might still stand today.

Outside of Florida, the Atlantic is so average/meh that anyone could realistically make the playoffs from there. Hopefully Boston isn't one of them lol

Looks like the Metro will be sending both Wild Cards to the playoffs this year if this keeps up.

Probably a bit early to be handing out wildcard spots yet I would say lol

Making Brad Marchand captain is really paying dividends.
With Marchand as captain the team got further in the playoffs last season than they did the season before with a historic record breaking team when Bergeron was captain. This season so far seems to be an issue with the GM valuing size over speed and skill. Not sure Marchand being captain has anything to do with Boston's slow start.

The funny thing is that you think we actually care about this. It says more about you that you spend 80% of your time on this website posting about a team that's not even the one you support.

People also dont talk about how bad Mcavoy and Carlo have looked. They look like they've regressed badly
McAvoy got pretty exposed after Chara left. I noticed it in our playoff series as well, he's not solid defensively. Elite shot, great offensively, really good skater and plays with heart but a lot of defensive mistakes. Whether it's positioning or just bad decisions. When he used to be on the ice with Chara, he was extremely effective.

He's more of a 2D than a true 1D in my opinion. I don't think he necessarily regressed, I think we're finally seeing him without an elite defensive team.

And yet the Atlantic is consistently represented in the finals and top of the regular season standings going back many seasons. Don't let Shesterkin carrying the Rangers D early in the season get your hopes too high to think you are that much better.
