It is the only logical solution if Talbot and Lyon are both out and Husso already called up.

Jake has not played yet this year, so even if he has ample NHL experience, he would likely be less effective than a 3'x6' piece of plywood stood upright if pressed into a NHL game, so this gives him a opportunity to get some ice time in GR and be available.

Cossa has a golden opportunity and even if he does not shine right away (his MO) it should not tarnish him being pressed into service before he was deemed truly ready by the brass.

Husso as we know is one save away from LTIR himself, so some time with the wings may be a real blessing for Cossa this year if his cups of coffee are early and often.

Who knows, maybe he will surprise and show he is more than ready for duty.

Even as a backup for Husso in all the games, chances are high that he will see some ice time.

Was going to say starting Husso twice in three nights is a recipe for Cossa having to take over #1 for the rest of the month anyhow.

Give em a game, and let him learn from it.

Any idea how long Talbot and Lyon will both be out?

I want to see Cossa get time, but at the same time, I want the Griffs to keep up their solid play and this will hurt them for sure. Like was mentioned earlier, Griffs has three in a row lined up this weekend, if they have no Cossa for all three?! Guess Gage Alexander gets a Griffs game?

Yay Cossa!

Also booo! He could single-handedly stop the tank job Fester is doing this year! We need that top 4 pick!!!

From what i've read and what Mickey had said, Lyon might be back in a week.

I don't know about Talbot.
If we assume Lyon is back for the Flyers game in Philly on Dec 12, that leaves a minimum of 4 games that Husso and Cossa need to cover, 3 of them on the road...as much as I would like to see Cossa play the Bruins and Avs (home game), it is more likely to see Cossa play 2 road games against the Sens and Sabres anbd not have the added pressure of the home crowd.

That assumes they play him 2 games as I honestly don't think they will risk having Husso play all 4, as the wings burn through goalies at an alarming rate sometimes...we could see Cossa for 3.5 of the 4 games, so if they bring him up, get into some games and toss him in fire with zero expectations.

If Lyon is delayed for any reason and/or Talbot out more than 2 weeks (usual time frame when goalies tweak a groin) we might see Cossa more than we think.
