The great cop out which means that nobody has to take responsibility for their own actions, or lack of action (with regards to doing the hard work of quitting).

I smoked a pack a day for more than thirty years. Apparently nicotine is more addicting than heroin, and I was heavily addicted. But I could have stopped at any time if I had simply had the guts to do so, and had the courage to go through the withdrawal. That I didn't was not down to a disease, it was down to a lack of willpower.

And for the record, I quit cold turkey two years and seven months ago. I haven't had so much as a single drag on a cigarette since I quit. I managed to do it because I finally stopped falling for the 'addiction is a disease over which we have no control' crutch and grew the balls required to go through the withdrawal. Turns out it was so much easier than I had expected. I only wish I had grown those balls years earlier, but maybe I just wasn't ready then.

But when I was addicted I did not have a disease, I simply lacked the willpower to go through the withdrawal and to live without my little crutch. That was all it was - willpower.

I agree with the overall sentiment but keep in mind everyone's situation is different and people have different demons in their life and different strengths than others. I don't judge. But I also don't use the disease excuse (my addiction being alcohol).

Look, if we are going to be a soft team, let's just be fast, skilled and pressure team. Bringing in a tough fighter to stand alone is only useless.

I'd like this post but apparently have been a bad boy so they took away my liking privileges.

Whatever Perry did was so bad he immediately outright voluntarily opted to walk away from his contract, and the PA didn't seem to say a peep in protest. That's pretty telling...

And adding him to the biggest media market in the NHL seems like it would be absolutely disastrous

Given his age I doubt he'll play another game in the NHL.
Probably didn't even do anythin

Perry is a tough fighter?

Perry has been a very effective 4th liner for the last 3-4 years and we've been witness to that in the playoffs 3 times.
Ok, what I should have said is willing fighter, but we need then to decide to make our 4th or 3rd line into a tougher line to support that style. Gregor is the exact opposite.
I have NO problem with more toughness, BUT, that 4th line does not give the top 2 lines more guts. Perry is too slow and old to go head to head with Tkachuk for example.
Our best option is to have a few guys grow a pair and play in front òf the puck like last night with Pitts,
I love Perry style, but age has caught up. A tough dman would be better. Another Knies type would be perfection.
