Islands in the stream.
Did a quick Spin to Louisiana

Then Hit up my place in Mesa

Then had some fun in baytown

Bragging about ill advised leisure trips to the US during a pandemic.

Then coming home everytime with potential covid-19.

This is about as bad as the US Citizens "going to alaska" and then spending weeks vacay in the Canadian rockies.

I love the USA and want to go back so badly, but I can't advise doing this at all. I've actually had a desire to re-visit Coeur d'lane for the first time in about 25 years, but crossing the border just doesn't seem to be worth it, regardless of whether or not it's open.

How much do you want to bet he didn't do the 2 week quarantine upon return too? Shut the border down for leisure trips already ffs! It's clear a certain portion of our society just dont f***ing get it. This is why govt intervention is required in times like this.

Also it's worse... because he's likely flying. Trap in an enclosed space, tightly packed with strangers for hours. Mask or no mask, a horrendous idea.

Bars and spin classes ... so stupid those idiots need to be locked down. Lifting weights in a small room with other sweaty heavy breathing people, and scrub league hockey ... high priority stuff that we need to get back to right away.

So you propose we shut down bars, gyms, arenas then? Because I wouldn't be against that. Just sounded like you were against shut downs.

Even though I've been visiting mine, gyms are an absolute breeding ground for this sort of thing, especially since it's really difficult to exercise and wear a mask simultaneously.

yes, because the virus works acts differently in Nordic countries...
I am not sure I understand what you mean, maybe I missed your initial point?...

Replying to someone saying that partial lockdowns made sense to buy time to understand the virus and situation better with *Sweden enters the chatroom*. 9 out of 10 countries worldwide and all of Sweden's neighbours reacted with tougher measures initially and got down the spread (and subsequent deaths) significantly. Sweden is not a good example for March-May, now they are though and the model they use seems to be working even spread is going up quick there as well (infected / tests). Already now the chance of dying from the virus is reduced more than 50% for infected, based on how, when and with what you treat the patients.

Ya it's a tough choice. It would be moderate in safety if they really limit the patrons in there, have great ventilation and the biggest factor... if there weren't so many effin stupid people around continuing to do their thing while symptomatic, or gather for parties, or effin travel to the states etc and likely not do a 14 day quarantine upon return. It's those dum dums who choose to ignore best practices that make things unsafe and might lead to or have (in other jurisdictions) led to re-shutdown of things.

Lol You guys a hilarious.

See as an Essential worker I still have to work. See I don't get to collect the Liberals Welfare Checks So I actually have to work.

As for the 14 day quarantine Yep unlike the lazy check collectors I do have to quarantine/Isolate for 14 days. Its lotsa fun.

why only compare Sweden to their neighbors? Belgium's numbers are worse and they locked down

what's it like in the US right now? I can only imagine it's thousands of sick people walking around coughing on each other while the hospitals have lines of patients around the corner pleading to get in... ;)

Haha. For real. Do people think they are 100% going to contract the virus if they travel through the states?

I mean Swe has already admitted that it was not good in that period, bloggers and some media disagree but the P.H.Agency has basically said that they would act differently if they knew what they know now.

One thing which I find funny, since I am talking to mostly NA people (I assume) is the nice little tidbit from the P.H. Agency and Gov that they could not have done a lockdown even if they wanted to. Because they could not understand how to make it legal, they would be breaking the law

... and the kicker (and why it's related to NA people) is that we are a socialist state... Not so authoritarian after all I guess :thumbu:

Nevermind Peru.... In regards to Sweden its the story of the Turtoise and the Hare.(Also would make a good research project into group think) But Sweden was the Turtoise, initially they looked like they had done the worst possible thing. But now, theyve had 0 deaths or close to it for the last 2 months, while the rest of the lockdown world is seeing numbers rise again.

Sweden is not socialist. They're a mixed economy.

What did your 3 leisure jaunts to the US, the raging hotbed of a pandemic, have to do with work?

You put not only yourslf at risk but any family, cohort friends at risk. Least you isolated. Must be nice to have a job that affords time for 3 trips out of country and 2 weeks stay home each time just to jump some covid locations. Doesn't sound too working collar stiff to me. Sounds like entitlement.

So what were you doing in the States then? You're leaving out key details.

Also calling everyone else lazy liberals is a bad look. I still work from home.

Can you tell us every detail of what you do on a day to day basis? Acting as if some random person on the internet is obligated to tell you everything about their life is weird.

Sweden has had roughly twice as many deaths per capita as Canada, and their current death rate is only marginally less. This may be classic case of Zeno's Paradox here it seems. They are also seeing their per capita cases rise at roughly the same rate as in Canada. Since deaths are a lagging indicator you may want to hold off on this assessment for a while. This may be classic case of Zeno's Paradox here it seems.
