Anyone have any thoughts on how extreme containment measures will get in the city?

Might go work from my parents place in NJ but want to make sure I can leave the city to do that mid-week and not be locked in here.

HERE IS A GOOD LINK - Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS

HERE ARE THE CORONA VIRUS TRENDS (I MADE THIS) BASED UPON:
Dates of estimated public outbreak => expected peak day (with an average of 21 days from 1st public domains spread to the peak # of infected people)

Hubei (China) - ~January 16 => ~February 6 (same trend here as mainland China)
South Korea - ~February 20 => March 1 (only 10 days until reaching the peak - was there earlier?)
Iran - ~February 22 => March 14 (still increasing March 12) - Are these numbers reliable?
Italy - February 21 => March 13 (still increasing on March 12)
France - February 25 => March 17 (still increasing on March 12)
Spain - February 25 => March 17 (still increasing on March 12)
Germany - February 26 => March 18 (still increasing on March 12)
Switzerland - February 27 => March 19 (still increasing on March 12)
Austria - February 28 => March 20 (still increasing on March 12)
Norway - February 29 => March 21 (still increasing on March 12)
Netherlands - March 1 => March 22 (still increasing on March 12)
Sweden - March 2 => March 23 (still increasing on March 12)
UK - March 2 => March 23 (still increasing on March 12)
Denmark - March34 => March 24 (still increasing on March 12)
Sweden - March 4 => March 25 (still increasing on March 12)
Canada - ~March 4 => March 25 (still increasing on March 12)
USA - ~March 5 => March 26 (still increasing on March 12)
Iceland - March 6 => March 27 (still increasing on March 12)
Poland - March 11 => April 1 (still increasing on March 12)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OUTBREAK DATES MAY NOT BE EXACTLY PRECISE. AND WILL VARY LOCALLY. BUT THIS IS NONETHELESS NOT A PRETTY OUTLOOK.

What's the general sense of how to know you may have it? Basically I just see everywhere fever, coughing, shortness of breath.

But what's the actual first signs?

It’s like any cold in this regard, just that they have no ammo to put in if it gets bad.

The by far biggest issue is that just like from all flues/cold — a smaller fraction get really ill. Get pnemunia etc. But only a smaller part of the population become sick from a normal flu/cold — since the normal deceases have gone around the planet many times before and many are already immune.

So with Covid 19 there is a potential that “everyone” will get it at once. And if a ton of people get a cold/flu at once, the relatively small fraction that becomes really really ill will flood any medical infrastructure. You need to create more emergency capacity, all kind of medical supply channels will be really strained and so forth. Medical personnel get sick too. Their kids get sick so they have to be at home. Schools close so some have to watch their kids. Same with the people producing medicine, protective gear and what not. The people transporting every thing that must be transported. These things have caused the big problems in Italy. Overfull hospitals. Lack of personnel. Lack of equipment. And like Italy was first out while everyone around them had full warehouses to deliver to them from. It can become even worse for others.

That is really what make the situation severe. Of the people that I heard had Covid 19 in Sweden everyone seem to just have a mild cold, but they were young healthy people in my age catching it while skiing in the Alps during the winter break in Sweden.

I'm not a doctor but body aches seem to be the most prevalent one I've seen based on anecdotal evidence.

Shortness of breath should definitely be monitored, but shortness of breath by itself with no other symptoms presenting is very unlikely to be related.

I’m still in Anaheim now. I have a flight tomorrow morning into JFK. Not much I can do now, just take precautions.

It's also the beginning of allergy season, which complicates symptomatic assessments.

Go vegan.

Read the book "how not to die". People make fun of me all the time, but my numbers across the board have gone to super healthy levels, I went from weighing 260lbs at my fattest and prediabetic to being 168 and as healthy as I've ever been.

I can't stress enough how going vegan helps you health wise.
I will have to look for that book....I have been contemplating the Vegan life . I have a friend who is vegan . Thanks !

Highest occurring symptoms are most likely the first to appear, but each individual is different. Diarrhea seems low % but some ppl said they had some before any of the other symptoms appeared. I've also seen anecdotal cases where it was just swollen/tearing eyes and sniffles, maybe a light fever.

A couple nights ago ABC ran a 20/20 about COVID-19. Really informative. Fever threshold is 104, if I remember correctly. Try looking for the program online.

CNN also running a special tonight on the virus.

Meaning less than 104 is not COVID? That seems....iffy.

I think that's when someone needs to contact a medical professional to get tested. But this is such a fluid, dynamic situation, we might have new thresholds now.

It's also hay fever season, so some of those pretty common (fatigue, dry cough, stuffiness, etc.) plus the regular flu is going around, too. .

Not to mention the clock/seasonal change.

Everyone feels like crap anyway.
That's my issue. Every single year when the temperature drops to head into fall and when it starts coming up from the end of winter I ALWAYS get sick. Like clockwork. I exercise a lot and have a good immune system so I never really get full blown sick but every single year at this time and like late October, I always always always feel like shit for a few days.

So I don't feel that bad but I don't feel 100% and don't know if I should be worried or not.

Yup, but the vast majority have some sort of fever which separates this from allergies. Regular flu is impossible to differentiate except by getting tested unfortunately

I wouldn't worry but I would watch it closely and avoid doing anything you don't have to just in case.

The seasonal malaise around the times of the year you mentioned is completely normal and most people get it. If you don't run a temperature, you don't have it.

That said, you'll be contagious before the temperature, so be careful.

How old are you? Any other health conditions? Fever?

Best bet is to take a deep breath and practice social distancing just in case. Definitely stay away from anyone who is more vulnerable (elderly + underlying conditions).

Don't go to the hospital or doctor unless you really get sick- they're not going to test anyway except for maybe Strep or the regular Flu, they'd send you home and tell you to rest, have plenty of fluids, and come back if it gets worse.
