I love so many of the attributes that Perry has brought to the team, but his lack of foot speed is really hurting his ability to get back and contribute positively in our own zone.

To be fair, sometimes, Drai makes him look like Gaetan Boucher out there. I say this half jokingly, at the risk of getting hammered on by his acolytes that think we're only picking on him.
Give it time. You sign Perry for the playoffs, not the regular season. The guy hits a whole new level of compete when it really counts. Dallas, Montreal, and Tampa fans all came around once they saw him in the playoffs.

Not me. I'll eat crow on that one. Maybe I was a bit too focused on the average age of the team. Our team is hyper focused on playoff success and having an experienced vet like him is underrated

Seeing how effective pests are in a playoff environment, we definitely should start looking for the next rat
What’s impressive about Perry right now is he looked completely cooked this time last year. Clearly was out of his depth with the pace of playoff hockey. But he’s turned the dial back, at least for a few games.

He's got amazing skill. He lost some speed (which was never his strength), but still amazing hands, can shoot, and go to dirty areas. nearly 20 goals at 39 is nothing to scoff at.

It’s actually insane to look back at ~2018 where Perry looked toast and Getzlaf was still an absolute beast and consider the fact that Getzlaf has been retired for 3 years, while Perry has 22 goals this year. Perry turns 40 during the playoffs this year, and I was so sure he was basically done at 33. The way he’s reinvented himself is amazing. You can tell he just loves the game so much and still wants to win

The prime Perry with McDavid and Draisaitl would be making of the dynasty probably.
I always loved Corey Perry, hated him when he was a Duck of course but love his game. You just don't see that anymore, other than Florida who is cornering the market on players like that who remain. I really hope we get Sam Bennet this off season as a younger maybe meaner Corey Perry replacement if Perry decides to hang them up.

Man I love this player. Bottle up all the key ingredients for a great hockey player and it will bake at high temperature into Corey Perry. Elite hockey sense and game sense to make the right play intuitively but also read the pulse of the game and know within it what action is required. Tough, resilient, and a warrior spirit fuels a competitive tenacity that rare elites harness. Fearless to live his game within all compete, battle areas of the ice. Grit to sacrifice himself for the greater team good whether taking a fight to spark a sleepy team or absorbing net front punishment to push home a goal or disrupt to enable one. The skills to still rock a 19 goal regular season and big playoff moments as shotgun with this moment in time prime years super elites.
