Only a blind squirrel might accidently hit the trade button on acquiring the Leafs 4 versus 2 generational legends
if your goal is the Presieent's Trophy and not the Stanley CupLeafs currently have one of the best rosters in the league
Not when it counts.Leafs currently have one of the best rosters in the league
Nah. Marner will sign in Edmonton. McDavid and Draisaitl will teach him how to perform in the playoffs.Hell no from Toronto. McDavid is signing there in a year.
Big![]()
You generally don't want a winger as your #1 guy.Nylander reminds me of Kessel. A guy who generally performs in the playoffs, but isn't someone who can be the #1 guy on a team. But trade him to a team that's already got it's #1 (or #2) and he'll be a huge contributor to that team's Cup run.
Are you saying you wouldn't trade the Core 4 for just one of either McDavid or Drsidaitl?Maybe for both McDavid and Draisaitl, but not for only one of them
They wouldn't; kinda the point and how it speaks to just how inept the Core 4 is in the PO.Core 4 = Matthews, Marner, Rielly, Tavares?
To be serious, it would hurt to lose Nylander, the other 3 not really.
However, why would the Oilers do that?
Well, are there any teams whose PO performers you'd trade for the Core 4?No idea why people keep dragging the Oilers into Leafs conversations. Lots of teams have better postseason players.
What about the Big Three in Montreal? Could you put any other forward besides Shutt and Lafleur ahead of them?Even in the pre-cap world, a successful quartet is two highly skilled forward, one power forward and one legit HOF #1 D. Bossy, Trottier, Gillies, Potvin or Gretzky, Kurri, Messier, Coffee.
The Leafs have it all wrong, the Core 4 are four highly skilled forwards. Oilers have two highly skilled forwards, which is inherently better because they have cap space left over to spread money up and down their lineup. There’s such thing as too much of a good thing. A core three of Quinn Hughes, Hutson and Fox would be a disaster.
Yeah, he's looking like a great steal at 57th overall.Forget the core that Knies is the guy I’d want
He's about to become overpaid though, calling it now...Forget the core that Knies is the guy I’d want
