Solid game overall.

This was however the first game from Ehlers and Laine in a while where they didn't look great. This was the kind of game where you just need to get pucks in deep, go hard to the net and just shoot as much as possible considering the shaky goals being given up. Too much fancy stuff in their game tonight. They will likely see this kind of game more often in the playoffs so they will need to adjust.

Decent OT as well other than Myers.

I for one could handle one more squeaker with our 8th win in a row being an absolute thumping of Toronto. The kind of score that makes you think the CFL started early.

My ticker is going to shut down if I have to go through any more of these OT/SO games. 190 mmHg peak systolic pressure while sitting quietly (well, more or less) in a comfy chair is unsustainable.

Inconceivable?

I was against it right away, although I thought it was offside. Based on how long Maurice and Kompon were looking at it before making the decision, there was a decent chance it was inconclusive. Bottom line is your team is still up by one and down 1 man, as opposed to down two men and still one even after they score, and most likely tied.

It made little sense.
I see your point but there is a case to be made that if the challenge is right the Jets are still up 3-1 and Maurice gets alot of time to rest the PK as well .

If gryz doesn't turn we're walking out of here with a 4-1 win and in good spirits. Not worried 1 iota about this game. Josh got a little hot headed and Gryz got a little scared when he saw him coming, ended up with a bad result.

PMo explains that he challenged because of our situation (already clinched in regular season) and probably wouldn't have if it were the playoffs.

I dont think you play the score. If correct the score would be 3 1. Sounds silly if you are convinced they are offside to not challenge because then its 3 2.

What’s the probability of holding a 1 goal lead in the third? If it’s very high, is it worth the risk to go down two players for a chance at a two goal lead?

Maurice said if it was the playoffs, he may not have made that challenge.

Great White North eh...
I'm still f'ng po'd at Maurice for another ill advised off side challenge. It may very well have been off side, but the replays I saw, it looked real close. In fact I changed my mind and thought it didn't go outside the line. Either way, it was close. If it's that close, you don't challenge you idiot! The risk/reward is not worth it. F'ng lucky to come out with the win IMO.

Hey Paul, I hope you got this out of your system now, and not let your emotions influence your better judgement in the playoffs.

I just wonder, why they still put Little first in the shootout... Ehlers or Connor should always be first, they're more intriguing and would hate to go against them if I were a goaltender.

I would definitely start with your best shootout player and work the way down. However, Little is also a very good shootout player. There's basically zero correlation between "ability to score 5v5" and "ability to score in shootout". I remember that first year when this came in and coaches were putting out their best offensive players and guys like Iginla and Kovalchuk were going 0-for-12 or so.

But yeah. More so than psychological value, you want to make sure you got your best players out there. There's a chance that your #3 player doesn't get to shoot because the shootout is over by then. That is a HUGE loss if you sandbagged your best shooter for that 3rd spot

Also, Myers needs to improve his quick thinking. He doesn't expect to get the puck, and then is clueless the second it hits his stick. I think he has the potential to be so much better than that. It nearly cost the team in overtime.

He's shown signs to me at least that he can think on his feet. That spin-o-rama against Nashville was amazing. And last game it was Morrissey that blew a flat that almost cost us the OT like Myers did this time.

Didn't mind Morrissey penalty at all really. It was an easy 5 min but he lost it when Scheif looked hurt.

When we weren't getting mixed up in BS we handled them well.
