The Rangers acquired Columbus’ 2014 6th round pick along with Derick Brassard, Derek Dorsett and John Moore from Colmbus in exchange for Marian Gaborik, Blake Parlett and Steve Delisle.
The Rangers then traded Columbus’ 2014 6th round pick along with Benn Ferriero to Minnesota in exchange for Justin Falk.
We eventually lost our 7th rounder in 2014 (conditional) to The LA Kings in the Danny Carcillo trade. Condition being that if Carcillo spends the rest of the season on the Rangers’ roster, Los Angeles gets the pick

Draft 2015
We lost our 2015 1st rounder in the Marty St Louis trade with Tampa Bay
We lost our 2015 5th rounder in the trade with Vancouver that brought us Rafael Diaz

Conditional picks 2015 - We will receive a second-round pick in 2015 if Ryan Callahan is re-signed by Tampa Bay for the 2014–15 NHL season. But we will then also loose our 7th round pick.

IF it is true, makes that Lundqvist contract even worse.

Dean Lombardi is the source of that information. He said the NHL has informed clubs about the cap being set at $68M(as low as) and not $71M. Its still a $4M increase.
 
ouch... only 4, possibly 3 draft picks if we make the ECF? Man, that hurts. Hopefully we can recoup some for the 2015 draft...

I am hoping that our scouting team takes a long, hard look at whoever goes undrafted. There has to be some potential talent in there somewhere

All this essentially does is:
1. give small raises to the entire roster

2. Buyout Brad Richards

3. Replace Brad Richards with JT Miller (which basically gives us the youth we need right now + a $5M+ cap savings

4. replace Stralman with Diaz, placing him on Staal's pairing

5. Not listed, but you could slot Carcillo instead of Dorsett and send Dorsett away for a 3rd round pick.

6. One of Pouliot or Hagelin will need to play their off-wing, which is fine because, see 7...

7. Pouliot and Hagelin are the most replaceable guys on the roster right now (Hagelin more than Poo at the moment, but both are 15 goal, 25-30 point guys). You'd have the option of using one of them for a trade for a right handed right winger...

8. Lastly, with $3-7M available in cap space with this roster, I would be interested in pursuing someone like Matt Moulson, Marian Gaborik, or Thomas Vanek (in that order due to contract demands). They could be acquired for nothing, and I can see someone like Matt Moulson playing well in this system.

god help us if Sather does that... Slotting Jesper on the RW would be silly, the depth there is great as is. Asking Lindberg to take the 4th line spot is also silly. Then replacing Dorsett and Moore with Shawn Thornton and Dan Carcillo...

man, those are some serious downgrade. I'd like to see this forward core remain intact, and maybe go after Thomas Vanek or Matt Moulson

FWIW, Fast played both sides pretty regularly in Sweden.
 
I think we've traded away enough picks and prospects for now. Trading Miller and Buch, as well as a serviceable roster player, for a guy that makes us only marginally better is not what I had in mind for the offseason.

Could agree with that but fear the old man is totally in the "win now mode" & ready to leave the fly bridge within two years and let someone else clean up the mess he created, hope I am wrong but am afraid not being it

I see your point. I just think that if that's the case, maybe buying at the deadline would be better than paying full price in the offseason. Then you know who is in good form and who isn't as well as whether your team is really in a position to win now.

I'm still on board with trying to swap Nash for Ovechkin but unfortunately no one else seems to be :laugh:
