I don't think the team changes too much. Let the overpaid 3rd/4th liners go in Boyle(best of the bunch) , Pyatt, Pouliott. Yea sure D.Moore at 1 million again whatever but the main thing is they need Miller Lindberg, Hrvik Fast or Kristo to step up 2 F of that group for sure

If Sather doesn't move Girardi or Staal and pays everyone,its the same team. Those are defend first players. What does that accomplish? Sather talked about changing the style of play. They can't play an up tempo style with these players. Why did they fire Tortorella? They should have kept him if they are going to bring back the same group of players for next 5-6 years. Staal isn't the same player after all of the injuries. You look at Staal before the concussion. Not the same player. Then he suffered the eye injury. Girardi looks lost in this system. Vigneault has a 5 year contract. They should have let Nill hire AV for the Stars if they bringing back the same group.

They better pray Richards doesn't get hurt or comes up with one of the injuries which require surgery after the season which prevents a buyout.

There will be no cap recapture problem on the next CBA. It only applies to deals that were signed under the last CBA.

Maybe, but it's not going to matter for the Rangers. One way or the other, Richards contract will be completely off the books by then. His deal expires in 2019-20. The earliest the next CBA could take effect is 2020-21, if either side opts out after 8 years. The cap recap would only apply during the years the contract would be active.

A) No, another David Clarkson will not fix anything, and as a matter of fact will produce a fraction of what Richards has produced, even in his HORRIFIC 12-13 campaign

With how high the cap is going and will go, I don't see the benefit of buying out Richards.

The risk of keeping him is that he could retire (probably after the 2016-17) and the cap hit would be $5,666,667 for three years after that. I don't really think that's a big deal.

So with Richards almost surely being bought out can that money not go into resigning Cally and Girardi? Also cap is going up

Question in the lineup will be does the team feel comfortable having Brassard as the 2nd line C. Stepan will be 1 and I'd say Miller is 3. Moore as a number 4 at the same amount of money OR another cheap alternative OR Lindberg. Main thing is 4th line C needs to be a cheap Pker

RW- Nash, Callahan, Zuccarello, Dorsett.............seems good to me.........Fast on call up

LW- Kreider, X- UFA, Hagelin, cheap 4th line option. I'm ok with a Carcillo type if he keeps doing what he's been doing. Pouliott also may be earning himself another contract. Ways to go for that though

Richards at 6.67 any given year is fine esp since his production is good, the issue is length of contract and what we get saddled with if he retires.

I believe so and I believe that we can even eat half his salary, issue for another team is that if he retires before the end contract ends then there could be a substantial hit based on his avg cap hit at 6.67. You'll get a better response from one of our more CBA educated posters.
