So pray for a favourable schedule for my wallets sake.

The schedule is determined by the media rights, not the other way around.

You won't magically end up with 76 Canuck games on the 3 national nights. The days they play will be determined by how many time they play nationally.

TSN and SN are in the same package in any package i've seen. The only difference is now you can drop the $2 or $3 CBC time shift package...even though on most the time shift package isn't just for CBC it's also Global and CTV.

There's really no saving to the consumer.

If you have Bell you get TSN included in basic, while you do not get any SN channels, and the opposite is true if you get Rogers basic cable.

and it definitely won't save the consumer, quite the opposite actually. The only thing they may do is allow the customer to pick and choose what station they want (a la cart like)

I would say Wednesday will be 2 or 3 games across the SN brand with no CBC involvement. The way our 7 teams are spread out make doubleheaders simple to pull off.

Thats what I thought, and what I was trying to express. And on those national days I can theoretically watch any of the Canadian teams that are involved, regardless of the region I am in, assuming I am subscribed to all the channels, which will not be cheap I assume.

Bettman kept using the word "partnership", so I imagine the NHL made some stipulations for this to be successful, such as no more blackouts and keeping HNiC.

Who knows what all the NHL asked for to make this work. Maybe the NHL has a say in the A La Carte packages involving hockey, as well as the streaming models?

Exactly.

Just don't expect 4 games every Wednesday.

People think the region thing is now trumped by the national rights on Wednesday and Sunday without realizing the league will just schedule the games in a way so that the amount of times you see your team nationally will likely not even change despite all this increased coverage on multiple channels.

All I see is marketing at play.

This has probably already been discussed, but does this mean that gamecentre live is now kind of obsolete if you have to the regional sportsnet (pacific for me), sportsnet one, and cbc/city tv? It seems like pretty much all nightly games are available, based on the mock schedule in this thread.

We are still on this?

Nothing changes! Using the logic from the press release there's NEVER been a 'local blackout'

That's a mock Saturday.

They didn't release a mock Monday because the other 4 days are why you still need to buy NHLCI.

John Shannon said on Tim and Sid that Rogers is going to be included heavily in scheduling with the NHL.

So expect 1-2 games on Wednesday and Sunday and a **** load on the days you have to pay for Centre Ice to watch, since they now own the rights to that in Canada.

I would expect the complete opposite. Rogers will be looking to maximize the number of commercials they are running. The more games you broadcast nationally, the more ads you can sell to a national audience (at inflated prices because they're going national).

my expectations are generally quite low when it comes to broadcasting, so I don't expect much. I am interested to see how much these packages will cost, and how they will be packaged. If there was an online only package, ideally team specific, it could be interesting

I agree, that is where the fan can see some potential for more team oriented programming.

I'd rather pay to just see my teams games and content, especially if it's done correctly.

Agreed. Too bad I don't cheer for a Canadian team.

If I understand this correctly Rogers/CBC/TVA have the right to 22 regular season games and all the playoffs games for Montreal starting next year.

The Habs regional deal is up this season with RDS/TSN, So that games what they have up for sale is the 60 regular season games and preseason games only?

Can someone please let me know if I understand this right.

Going to be interesting then, I believe all of other Canada's team have a deal in place long term for regional games, so does RDS/TSN go all out to at least get that deal or not even bother.

With telus optik you have to purchase the sports package 9$ and then the sports top up to get the other SN channels 2$

And the neutering of the CBC in this sub-licence agreement with Rogers continues:

(A) Rogers spokeswoman said the arrangement with the CBC doesn't include digital rights, so "Hockey Night in Canada" will no longer be streamed on cbc.ca starting with the 2014-15 season. And CBC's mobile apps for Hockey Night in Canada will be transferred to Rogers' ownership.

they'll stick around for the 4 years. after that, who knows. I think we'll see PJ, Lee, Healy, Weekes, Petrillo, Millen and a slew of others gone though.

SO it's not all bad

I figure they will still be retained by Rogers, as there is a lot of content to fill. It may mean that guys like Friedman will get increased exposure across all platforms, which is a good thing IMO

If they work for CBC during the 4 years they won't be on HNIC.

No CBC personnel will be on HNIC after this season.

This is where I was coming from...the ad revenue for more national games would be waaaay more then the amount they will make from the hardcore fan who buys CI to watch their favourite team from out of region...if they are about making money why try and hide all the games on non national rights days.
