For a pure rookie if he didn't stand out doing dumb things he played well. In this case he didn't do anything boneheaded and I think he smacked a post in the 1st period. Good game rook.

He definitely looked better than Sheary from last year. He wasn't spectacular but didnt make nay bad plays. He also got a goal with that snipe. He isn't afraid to fight or use his body big need for team. I have a feeling we will seeing Sheary, Atkinson, and Chaffee out of the line up for him this year. Maybe he can be our next Hagel, but it is too early to tell.

Finally had his chance to prove something more in a scoring line with better players. Too hard show what you has playing in 3rd or 4th lines and the coach must be ready for that, happen before and we lost some key players for nothing...

Coop on moving Geekie to the wing with Hagel and Cirelli in the top 6:

"First of all he's shown us some signs (he could do it), especially in training camp. We had him playing in the middle, which he is natural, but I think especially coming into this league it's ok to jump over to wing. It can be a little bit of an easier assignment than the demands of having to play center, and he's playing with two pretty good players. He's a really good player himself. He's just not an experienced player. It was just one game, but he'll be with those guys again tonight, but with each game too he's getting more confident. But maybe helping him take a little less responsibility away from him putting him on the wing is helping him."

He's definitely a 20/20 guy in the future and a welcomed, big body in the lineup. I like the guy. Really hoping he stays hungry.

Is it crazy to say, since he's moved up to the 2nd line, that he's been more noticeable than Guentzel? Seems like every game he's driving plays, getting good scoring chances or setting them up. I'm really impressed with him - and a little underwhelmed by Guentzel thus far, but sometimes it takes guys half a season or more to click with a new team (Hagel, for instance).

Going to say no, it's been 2 games and there's obviously selective bias towards tonight's game, Jake was clearly more noticeable last or game or did you miss the period where he had 8 shots on net? Little crazy to think Geekie was standing out more then Guentzel last game with 2 points and 9 shots on goal.....

I think he's starting to get a sense for NHL pace. He could have easily had a goal and assist last night. But the one play where he held the puck and hit the trailer just didn't finish and his 2nd career goal was prevented by a rogue stick

That tic tac toe goal he scored last night was *chef's kiss* and probably one of the nicest I've seen in person. I freaking leapt out of my seat boys.

My only assessment is I can see a few strokes of brilliance from game to game. But he can't decide if he wants to be finesse or if he wants to play like a bowling ball. Nothing shocking. Young player is figuring himself out. Stop the press ya know? I don't think he necessarily needs more weight, but he does need strength training. I can see long scoring droughts not being irregular for him. It happens to literally everyone unless you're a superstar

When he's on the second line Hagel and Cirelli start skating faster and are a lot more aggressive. He's still only deployed situationally though, you can see he's still learning assignments etc.

As we all know and have discussed the Jeanott trade was the worst for JBB but I think he redeemed himself with the Serg trade. Moser and Geekie are paying and will continue to pay big dividends. Even restocked the cupboard with a couple of picks.
