.98 is a big difference from the 1.5 the OP said 😄

Doesn’t he usually feast on Nashville? 43 points in 27 games I think?
It's funny because Nashville has our number forever. I remember arviddson was an Oiler killer in the decade of darkness. Then along came pissy Leon and he is a preds killer. And we have arviddson.

I do expect a loss tomorrow though... We are lost right now.

He’s below a ppg without McDavid

View attachment 923978

They’re obviously talking about the only time it’s been remotely relevant, which was nearly 5 years ago in 2019-2020, when McDavid missed 6 consecutive games in February. Draisaitl had 4 goals and 12 points in those 6 games as the Oilers went 3-2-1.

Until this upcoming stretch, McDavid has only missed 19 games total after his rookie campaign. The bulk of those games without McDavid for Draisaitl came in McDavid’s rookie year, when Drai hadn’t even played a hundred games himself yet. I think he put up something like 32-34 points in the 37 games without him, which is very respectable, considering how young he was, the era, and the lack of talent around him.

We can revisit this if Drai fails during the upcoming weeks.

Nashville seems to be even more lost right now. This seems like a good “win one for Connor” moments. Devils and Vegas should really only be the questionable upcoming games.

Unless the Oilers go in the toilet over the next 2-3 weeks.

They're not the Cup favorite at this point IMHO.
That can't be right. Oilers fans and media were hyping them up all off season and saying it's just a matter of who they beat in the Cup Finals, and by how much.

Did they wake up from their dream again? Surely they have to be the favorite. They are the greatest team to grace planet earth.

It's not even about that. The idea that Draisaitl is not a f***ing phenomenal hockey player without McDavid is literal insanity. It shows extreme levels of stupidity at best, troll-level analysis at worst. It's dishonest, and the discussion is stupid. Same shit that Malkin dealt with his entire career.

I've watched Draisaitl enough with my own eyes to know that he is outstanding whether or not McDavid is on the ice.

This isn't necessarily directed at you, moreso just the general debate.

Might be good for the Oilers honestly. They desperately need something to rally around to get going, maybe not having McD helps in that regard. Either that or they sink further and prove that they weren't as deep as people thought.

I agree. Good post from a Penguins fan.

The team relies so heavily on McDavid that the depth/role guys needs some leeway to build some confidence in how they play. McDavid being out for a few games should in theory help them get going

Drai will perform just fine in the coming games without McDavid. He's a very good hockey player.

The real problem is that it probably won't be good enough.

McDavid missed six games last year, and the Oilers managed a single victory. Add to that the fact that they are about to enter a really tough part of the schedule, and things may go off the rails quickly.

I've also been around long enough to know that the Oilers' injury prognostications have been woefully inaccurate in the past. Those who have been around here as long as I have will know what I'm talking about.

I'd agree with this.. the outlook is very bleak right now. And drai won't be the problem. But I'm sure posters will blame him.

Let's see how deep this roster is without their best player. Everyone has been saying this is the best and deepest offense in the league. If true then playing a few weeks without their captain should be a cake walk.

They might... Or might not. Hopefully they get going. Shooting percentage is bound to start climbing but I'm really hating the vibes this team is giving off this year.

Hyman has 0 goals and he plays his best with McDavid. Skinner's alter ego, Sh*tter is showing his ugly face again as well. He's been bad. Like, remarkably awful so far aside from the Carolina game which the Oilers lost anyways.

They are bound to make the playoffs assuming McDavid is not out for most of the season but this isn't the team that went to 7 in the cup final anymore. I suppose a big trade at the deadline might get them back on track to that elusive Stanley Cup. Until that happens getting super excited and invested in this season is going to be hard for me personally. That crushing loss in the final hurt.
