Post-Game Talk: Connor Magic!

This is probably the apex version of Connor Brown right now. He created like four good chances last night including the goal and toe dragged multiple times past Vegas defenders. That was about as perfect a game they could have played outside of the dumb penalty from nuge and the subsequent stone goal that followed.

Connor McBrown is so hot right now in the playoffs that he acts so casual and doesn't even celebrate much when he scores now. Just another day at the office.
If we didn't saw the game. We'd thought he was doing a regular shift. And that it wasn't a goal celebration. Based on this pic.

I stand corrected that outlet pass on the 3rd goal was Klingberg (as well as on the 1st goal). He sure can pass the puck. Can't teach that, that's just a talent.

Even in a dominant game from Oilers and him his mistakes and bobbles stick out.

very impressive stat line from last night including TOI. I just cant get around to trusting him or Nurse
That just shows people don’t really understand what they’re watching and just waiting for him to make a mistake while ignoring all the good plays

What a clinic they have been putting on since GM 5. Keep this machine going
Connor Brown has been playing Conn Smythe like. Klingberg has been lights out. Bouchard was very steady last night .
Bowman took a lot of heat on these boards but all these moves he has made look great

I mean tbf he still deserves a lot of flack by putting so much faith into Skinner. That's literally putting a handicap on yourself going into every match. Even a blind person could see that Skinner wasn't gonna get the job done.

Connor McBrown.
Guy has been unreal these playoffs. He had one bad dzone turnover along the wall last night but I can't think of much else.

Whoot! They proved me wrong.

What a treat to not have to be a nervous nelly to start a playoff series for once.
Okay they still had to do the comeback thing in the game but I'm not going to complain. No Siree Bob.

This team can really dominate.

There look to be some switches flipped for a few players that makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Bouchard was a rock. Yes Bouchard.
Klingberg's passing may be better than Bouchard's. He's making some fantastic ones.
Connor McBrown scoring more goals than McDavid.
Pickard's a 3rd period barrier.
This list can go on.. and hopefully next game it's some other guys crushing it on the score sheet as well.

That version of the Oilers we saw last night was like game 5 Oilers against L.A

They play that game or near it for the rest of the playoffs I don't think there's a team in the league that can beat them 4 times.

And although he's getting wins, and making the Fuhr-esque "must have saves" at the right times, I don't have a ton of faith Pickard is sustainable at a ~.890 SV% all the way to the end (yet).

Bowman created an outcome where we have to just hope that this pure backup goalie can keep it together for long enough to get through combined with his teammates being stalwarts defensively. All he had to do was get another warm body for cheap and we have some redundancy, but why make that easy, and potentially critical move when you can roll with a lazy fat f*** that gets burned every playoff and a small backup goalie?

Same. Something about how he plays in the net still scares me ala Tim Thomas. Just seems to be all over the place but like Thomas, gets the saves when the Oilers need them. That said, wouldve still been better if we had at least a league average goalie.

Well, as long as we play this stifling form of Oilers D, I think we should be ok.

I'm with you. I like Pickard, love the story, love and admire how much he's battling especially in the context of his bum colleague that thinks it's funny when he's getting shelled. However, he just isn't a good goalie and not much is going to change that. There is a long way to go to get the cup, and it's unlikely bend but don't break goaltending survives all the way.

The other side of this coin is that we seem to have found our 4 line forecheck game and have cleaned up our breakouts with crisp steady passing from Klingberg, Bouchard and Walman in particular. If we manage our penalties and keep up this level of play up front we might be able to get away with it.

We need one of those apology forms for Bouch.

Lots of people on this board need to fill it out.

Let's hope he maintains this level of play because this version of Bouchard is the big money player we had in the 2nd half of last season and in the playoffs.

Speaking of apology forms lots of people need to fill one out for Perry, Janmark, Brown, Klingberg, Kane, Frederic, etc.

Nobody has the monopoly on being right 100% of the time especially me and everyone else on the forum. What's the saying, "If I had a nickel for everytime...."
