Connor Bedard is -84 throughout two seasons…Worst in the NHL

38% faceoffs, disaster defensively...

Yeah, he's probably a winger similar to Patrick Kane or something. I feel like playing him as a C might be holding him back.
Yup.

If he improves dramatically and he wants to move back to center, consider it. Until then, put him on the wing and cut him loose from his defensive responsibilities.

Blackhawks tanked so hard that they’re ruining their golden goose. Hard to get better playing on an AHL roster against NHL teams. They suck man

Not writing him off though. That shot is crazy.

I can't help but think Bedard is in the same situation as Eichel in Buffalo.

I just don't see how the Hawks climb out of the basement anytime soon.
Without a trade, Bedard is looking at spending a majority of his career out of the playoffs like Larkin.

We know how good Eichel is now. Dude is a f***ing beast. But he can't do it all alone.

Not similar players at all.

Guess what, put Carlsson or Fantilli in the same position and it wouldn't be better
Carlsson is a significantly better 200 foot player at this point in their careers. He's only -2 over his first 2 years with the Ducks, a team with a -126 goal differential in that span

He's very responsible, especially in comparison to Bedard. He'd for sure have a better +/-. Bedard is obviously impacted by playing on such a bad team, but his constant open ice giveaways and poor defensive zone coverage have created a lot goals for the opponent this year.

Generational plus/minus ?
Bedard is a one dimensional undersized winger disguised as a center.

He is weak and absolutely horrible defensively. For such a shrimp, his skating is just average, which makes him a liability at 5 on 5.

:teach:
GM Kevyn Adams is salivating

Carlsson is more refined and while Anaheim isn't good, they are atleast not trying to force kids into being a day 1 savior. If any of these kids are just thrown out there 20 minutes a night and not held accountable then I disagree it would be much better. At best subtract some goals for and against but the overall impact would still be pain.

Celebrini is a pretty mature player for his age and he's a -30, we don't fear for him longterm as an all around guy do we?

Chicago needs people in the right places to properly work with the kid, he's left too much to figure things out on his own. He'll never be Toews in his own end but he'll continue to grow

Was he ever labeled "generational" like McDavid outside some fans? I was always under the impression he was in the Eichel/Matthews/Dahlin upper level of franchise defining players but not Ovi/Crosby/McDavid.
I was hearing about Bedard as a 13 year old when casually researching the next big prospects. And I'm all the friggin way here in Tampa

He will be fine, he's still a kid figuring it out. I think the mistake was putting so many expectations on him.

One of the biggest flaws for +/- is that it counts goals scored in empty net situations. Bad teams pull their goalie more often than good teams, and good offensive players on bad teams will get the majority of 6v5 ice time and thus get tagged with the majority of the minuses that come with a GA in these situations (which I think we'll all agree is not reflective of their defensive play one way or the other). Bedard has been on the ice for 33 empty net goals against over the past two seasons, and has only been on the ice for 1 empty net goal for (that is, on the ice for a goal that Chicago has scored into an empty net) for a net -32 that makes his total +/- a lot worse than it probably should be.

Why do you say that?

Chicago has a lot of young prospects. Pittsburgh is going to be a bottom dweller who could use those prospects. Sid doesn't want to play in Pittsburgh when there is nothing to play for.

Trade Sid to Chicago, let him mentor Bedard and then re-sign Sid in Pittsburgh when he wants to retire.

🤮🤮🤮🤮

What is there to play for in Chicago for Sid? Be a babysitter for a teenager with no extra pay?

Why does he care whether or not Chicago/Bedard are doing good?

Kinda sick how some people actually seem to get their kicks from tearing down a teenager that has accomplished more before hitting 20 then they ever will in their entire lives. “Bust” or not
Sorta depends on what you consider "accomplishment" but many people find whacking a puck with a stick to not be a very high accomplishment in comparison to, say, researching medicine or developing new technology.

Why not? Give something back and mentor someone who idolizes him.
