Do you see Bedard signing 5 or 8 years after his ELC?

Now that Matthews keeps going for short term deals this has to be asked
Really hard to say. Most likely a 5. But all depends if he stays healthy and is worth it. Don’t see any reason why they ever let him walk out of town. I can’t recall any guy north signing after his Elc of guys drafted in the top 10 last few years. Kotkaniemi was giving the habs issues and they dealt him. Matthew’s is such an odd case. I remember he was putting it out that he wanted to go back to AZ around his third year in the league. Now he wants a small city. I don’t think he knows what he wants

Nifty

Yeah, knew that about the (great-great) uncle, but first I've image I've seen of him as a Hawk.

Feel like he is almost getting undersold at this point.
We're still deep in the offseason.

There's very little hype for hockey right now. It'll ramp up when pre-season starts.

The other thing is there hasn't been a Bedard level prospect making their debut in like 6 or 7 years? Lafreniere, Power, Slafkovsky have become the norm for 1st overall picks.

Dang we already talking about his second contract? Let's give that a little bit of time.
Amateurs only on his second contract, I have already envisioned his entire career with the Hawks from debut to jersey retirement.

“Muh generational player” gripe is already getting old

Kid hasn’t stepped foot on ice and the peanut gallery sure enjoys griefing us for out of spite lmao

As if crosby wasn’t a sub 6ft center… or kane who wasn’t “generational” didn’t lead the decade in points

Little do they know this board owns that word. Hope he lives up to expectations :P

Was reading Michkov's prospect thread and someone translated a bit of an interview with him.

Apparently Bedard reached out to him after his father died. Also had MM meet Connor's parents and invited him to the Bedard home in Vancouver.

Real character qualities from Bedard.

Bedard gonna have Michkov not come over stateside unless he's traded to the Hawks. :naughty:

Here's Pat Boyle's interview with Jon Calvano who was/is Bedard's skills coach since he was 5 years old. My best takeaways are Calvano says he so much faster now than he was even 3 months ago and that he's really invested in being a Blackhawk.

This is exactly what I had predicted a few months back when people were trying to use his skating as a knock against him, when at that time he was already faster and easily a better overall skater than 90% of NHLers, especially while controlling the puck and making plays. I guarantee he blows by defensemen on a regular basis and ends up on highlight reel after highlight reel his first month in the league.
