I’m not a Patriots fan but this season wasn’t Mayo’s fault. Coaches take the blame. Kraft……..
Mayo allegedly lost the locker room as soon as like week 4 or 5 when he was playing should i/shouldn't i with the QB situation. It was obvious Brissett wasn't it and for some reason Mayo insisted on keeping him.

He wasn't cut out to be a head coach. Which is hilarious given the Krafts spent like 4 to 5 seasons grooming him to take Belichick's place when the time came.

Assuming it's Vrabel, who do we want for coordinators?

Dare I say McDaniels would be th play since he probably isn't ever getting a HC job again, and won't be a flight risk?

For those who think they should interview people other than Vrabel……

Why?

He’s got a track record, seemingly wants to be here and certainly has a presence that will help them re-develop a positive culture.

Who else is out there that anyone would want instead?

Beyond the Rooney Rule, as others have said, there's value in learning how other coaches would build the organization and develop Maye. You might find someone with a better plan than Vrabel.

It's everyone's fault. Top to bottom. But the buck starts and stops with Mayo. He was NOT ready. He was woefully unprepared. Horrible culture inside and outside that locker room. Constant blunders in the media. He looked over matched and not prepared.

AVP and Covington can go too.

And the few whinebaby players too.

A Vrabel-McDaniels combo would be pretty good but I think I am at a point where I want to evolve beyond the McDaniels offense. Unless he can change and knows how to work with a mobile QB etc. I just don't like the idea of saddling any coach with Eliot Wolf. Wolf has not even come close to earning that. What if Vrabel says he wants his own personnel guy?

Right. Also, why fire him IMMEDIATELY after the game? Why not give him the dignity of being fired on black Monday? Something happened today. You aren’t losing Vrabel by waiting to fire Mayo on Monday morning. Something stinks here.
Yes - there is a major back story here

not Bob Kraft MO, very odd

Totally agree. Not doing this tomorrow feels personal.

Think they also wanted to change the headlines from "Pats Blow Top Pick" to "Pats Fire Unpopular Coach."

Take your medicine for one f***ing day.

It's political, so I won't post the full details here, but if you look at Mike Kadlick's Twitter feed, there's a tweet about Mayo not wearing a certain pin today, which certainly raised my eyebrows as to the current state of his relationship with the Krafts.

This was a Jonathan Kraft production. I think that's obvious. There's no way Bob wanted to do this to Mayo. The fact AVP was also announced as fired screams Jonathan here.

Maybe Jerod Mayo can crawl back to Bill Belichick and ask for forgiveness. Be a LB coach at UNC!

Vrabel could easily take a different offer or use the Jets to get more money out of cheap ass Kraft. If the decision has been made move as quickly as possible.

Wolf not going shows that the ownership is out to lunch.

Vrabel was a miracle worker for a while in Tennessee and never had a QB there's no reason to overthink anything here.

Vrabel is an upgrade. Is he great? Meh. We shall see. 13-21 last 2 seasons with Titans. Averages out to 6.5 wins 10.5 losses per season. Pats worst roster in NFL. Is 5-11 considered a success next season?

Alex Van Pelt reportedly fired too, Eliot Wolf to return

In addition to Mayo, the Patriots are also reportedly moving on from offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, according to Ben Volin of The Boston Globe. Chances are Mayo's entire staff will be blown out in New England.

The front office doesn't seem to be changing though, as executive VIP of player personnel Eliot Wolf is expected to return, according to Chad Graf of The Athletic.
