I have to believe that whomever comes in as the next head coach will demand quality personnel going into next season. Everyone in the football world knows that the Patriots had the worst roster in the league. Nobody will set themselves up to be Mayo Part Deux.

A Vrabel-McDaniels combo would be pretty good but I think I am at a point where I want to evolve beyond the McDaniels offense. Unless he can change and knows how to work with a mobile QB etc. I just don't like the idea of saddling any coach with Eliot Wolf. Wolf has not even come close to earning that. What if Vrabel says he wants his own personnel guy?
Yeah Im not a huge McDaniels guy, but I also want to prevent another OC carousel for Maye in his first few years.

I think Daboll would be a far better choice, but he's absolutely getting another HC job if he came here and Maye and the offense looked good.

That is the ONE thing I can come back to and say ok they forced Mayo on Wolf. But what has Eliot Wolf accomplished to deserve anything? Why should he be in charge of personnel and coaching decisions?

Cause he’s the GM and it’s literally his job. We just watched what happens when Kraft does it

Stick with the west coast system, either hire Daboll if he's fired or find the next young McVay/Shanahan disciple

It's political, so I won't post the full details here, but if you look at Mike Kadlick's Twitter feed, there's a tweet about Mayo not wearing a certain pin today, which certainly raised my eyebrows as to the current state of his relationship with the Krafts.

JFC

McDaniels seems likely as OC cause they won't have to pay him much until 2028 thanks to Vegas.

Yes, it was all because of a pin....

Nevermind the team record and overall downward direction of the team this season.

Teams still have to pay a salary based on the title, Breer has talked about this many times.

Nobody coaches for team X for free because they are paid by team Y for past service.

1) Nobody said it was "only" about a pin FFS.

2) They still have to pay him, yes, and what they pay him will offset what Vegas has to pay him. But they also can get him "below market" for that same reason.

Yes, Smitty was implying it was about the pin and politically motivated, that's BS.

Do your due diligence. Interview Ben Johnson, Vrabel, Flores, Kingsbury, Liam Coen, maybe Joe Brady. Prioritize how they can help Maye become a Super Bowl winning QB. Let them decide who from the coaching and personnel staff stays.
I'm not sure Johnson would take the interview but I agree with the sentiment. The Patriots do have recent history and a franchise quarterback with the right commitment to spend this can be turned around in a year or two.

And then goes on to to mention the pin .. not sure what you are missing.

Please go read the actual post and what he actually said. He didn't mention specifics about the pin because the pinb itself is political JFC.

You're seriously misinterpreting my post. I said it's political because we have certain rules on this board which would likely be violated if I posted the actual tweet, or at least they'd be violated by further discussion of the specifics of said tweet.

My post was in reference to Mike thinking the Kraft's decision to fire him so quickly must have been personal and the tweet I referenced potentially speaks to the current state of their personal relationship.

Now do Covington.

Fire them all
I think them all being fired is implied. Van Pelt being mentioned by name likely springs from some kind of anger or personal grudge.

I have zero faith in the Kraft family to make the right choice.
Today was a step in the right direction.
