Speaking of guys the Pats should draft...

This Mike Green fella from Marshall? Looks like he could be a beast of an edge rusher or linebacker. Pats haven't had a dominant edge rusher duo in a long time. Pair this Green kid with Keion White? Could be quite the handful to deal with.

Say this happened

1. Hunter
2. QB
3 QB

Do you take Abdul Carter or trade back or take someone else

I am likely taking Carter

Probably could get a huge haul for that pick if Carter is there though imo, he’s likely the best player in the draft

If someone offered me the right trade package to go back so I can get Will Campbell, as well as enough assets so I can go back up into the late first round and take Cameron Williams? I'd do it. If not? I would probably take either Abdul Carter or Mason Graham.

I don't think there's any chance Carter is there at 4. If he is take him.
My two scenarios

1. Both QB gone and you get Hunter or Carter

2. A QB is there and you trade back and get multiple top 50 picks including a good enough pick to grab an OT

Ideally to me they flip with Raiders if both Hunter & Carter gone

Brady & Vrabal basically playing stratomatic as kids

Raiders get Patriots 4th OA and maybe the Falcons 3 they got for Juden

Patriots get 6th OA and Raiders 2nd rounder

These are type of trades me and @LouJersey do in our SIM league

Whataya say Mike ?

To me the dream scenario is that one of the teams above you takes Sanders and then gets really stupid so they offer you a bounty to take Hunter at 4. That way they can sell that to their fanbase.

Maybe they offer something like a 2nd and 3rd this year, a '26 1, a '26 2nd, and a '27 1.

I was just reading an article yesterday about how teams are generally down on Ward and Sanders as prospects. Apparently, there are a lot of teams that have the two of them graded behind where they had Bo Nix and Michael Penix last year, meaning that they would have been QB7 and QB8 in last year's draft respectively.

I'm fairly skeptical that one of the Top 3 is going to pass on someone like Hunter or Carter to take either one.

So, I think one of the QBs will be there at #4. But who's coming up to get them? Maybe Vegas, but I think they're going to try to sign a veteran QB in free agency. You want to help the Jets get a quarterback? New Orleans might have to cut Derek Carr for cap reasons, but they've got enough issues where they shouldn't be trading multiple picks for anyone. And if those three don't view Ward and Sanders as Top 10 material, the next team that might be interested in Seattle at #18.

I’ll absolutely help the Jets get one of these QB, they’re the Jets. They’ve made better prospects bust.

I don't think there's any chance Ward doesn't go in the top 3.

So you can either a) draft Hunter or Carter or b) trade back with a stupid team who will take a chance on Sanders after they talk themselves into him like someone always does.

QBs are always tough to predict, especially at this point in the process. Look at early mocks last year. Daniel Jeremiah didn't have McCarthy or Penix in the 1st. Dane Brugler didn't have Nix or Penix in the 1st. Then you have a year like 2022, where Jeremiah and Brugler had three 1st rd QBs in their early mocks, and not only did only one go in the 1st, the second QB taken didn't go until the 3rd.

It's lying season, so you have to wonder how much of the talk is coming from QB-needy teams outside of the top 3 hoping to take Ward or Sanders at their pick. Personally, I don't see a significant enough difference between the top 5 or so QBs, where I'd look to take whatever's left at the top of the 2nd.
