Since you put many AHL players and frindge NHLers, you can also put Laurent Dauphin, Tyler Wotherspoon, Vincent Arseneau and Joshua Jacobs in the "add" category for the Habs.

These are AHL contracts, only counted NHL ones.

Edmonton, Nashville, Jersey, and Utah all got better.

Vegas and Carolina got worse. So did Florida, but Zito will fix it.

Vancouver did a bunch of stuff, but I think they pretty much ran in place.

Legitimately not sure what Detroit and LA are trying to accomplish.

To me, there are 2 standouts, rest are kinda wtvr. Their fan bases can toot their own horn. I won't comment on my own. But the 2 imo are Nashville and Washington. Both really attacked market and on paper look poised for better days upcoming

I still think LA makes the playoffs.

Detroit is being too patient. You're in the Atlantic division, Yzerman. You gotta be aggressive. At this rate they won't even get to the playoffs again until the end of the decade, and Larkin will be in his mid-thirties by then.

Carolina did a good job of rebuilding their defense and the bottom 6 players they lost, but without finding replacements for TT and/or Guenztal, it’ll all be for naught.
Pesce and Skjei out and Walker and Ghostibehere in is a pretty significant downgrade IMO. Like the Canes but expect RBA's hair to grey pretty rapidly this season.

Last year, Skjei put up 13 goals and 47 points. Ghost put up 10 goals and 56 points. We're sacrificing a little defensive prowess for more offensive numbers.

As far as Pesce to Walker, we'll have to see. I think Walker's foot speed and transition game might offset the net front presence we're losing in Pesce.

Like I said, their defense was rebuilt pretty well considering the situation they found themselves in. It's the glaring holes in their Top 6 that worry Canes fans.

Agreed on that - but IMO Skjei actually plays some defense - something that Ghost struggles with. It will be interesting to see how Ghost does under RBA. He can definitely activate and contribute offensively - but how much does he cost you on the other end. Also, can't wait to see with Walker if the Canes get the Flyers version or the Av's version.

Do the Canes have any prospects who are ready to step into a top 6 role? With Guetzel only being there since the TDL - he's not a "complete" replacement IMO.

The Capitals have had an outstanding offseason, starting with the draft. They have managed to shed bad contracts, without giving up much in the way of assets.

Their retool is way ahead of schedule.

You Got, Florida
depends on how much Lundell takes and if we keep Tank but so far i dont mind our offseason, getting reino signed to that deal was huge.

Mainly lost 4th liners which weve replaced, ill say a wash, plus can finally see if Samo/Sourdif crack the lineup

Defense TBD but losing montour and OEL sucks. Think the pickups we got can stop the bleeding but def a bit weaker there especially on RD.

Stolarz goin away sucks cause he was great, but hopefully Knight is ready to play

Hopefully chucky gets healed from his sternum injury fully and is back to 22-23 chucky. You could tell at times it was still bothering him. If he comes back to form ill say were better

Nah, we traded our most NHL-ready prospect in the Guentzel trade, but even then, he was better suited for a bottom-6 role.

We have a couple that might get into the Top 6 in the future, but none that are ready to step in next year IMO.

I just saw the news of the Steve Stamkos and Tyler Toffoli signings. Good Lord...!

Stamkos is passing his prime and will now make $8 million / year on a club that won't be gifting him PP chances much anymore. Maybe he has a season or two of productive play with 25 goals or something, but those last two years are going to have some serious stank on them (I predict a buy-out).

Stamkos, last season, scored 1 more ES point than Oilers' defenceman Mattias Eckholm. And he doesn't play defence...

Okay, so that one is going to hurt Nashville. But the Tyler Toffoli one... Holy crap, this is staggering.

$24 million over four seasons with the lowly Sharks... Yeah, because an aging, so-so sniper is just what that franchise needs to devote its cap-space to.

What in the hell are they thinking?? Yeah, the guy has had a few very strong goal-scoring seasons (mixed in with a bunch more mediocre or forgettable ones), but he's 32 years old and has never played for a really bad team.

Anyway, Toffoli and Stamkos both should be giving very big Christmas presents to their respective agents this Christmas... like, Rolls Royces.

You think Nashville won’t be trying to feed Stamkos PP chances?!?

No idea what Detroit, LA or Seattle are doing.
I get what Seattle is doing. They may have overpaid for their free agents, but adding a 2RD and a 2C is huge.

Up : Nashville

Down: every single move Detroit did today with $32 milly in cap space

Smh 🤦🏻‍♂️
I had no idea Detroit had that much space. You’d think they would make a push after narrowly missing the playoffs.

I think Rangers have had the worst offseason by far

In - Riley Smith, Sam Carrick, B-O Groulx, Casey Fitzgerald

Out - Erik Gustafsson, Alexander Wennberg, Barclay Goodrow, Jack Roslovic, Blake Wheeler, Chad Ruhwedel, Mac Hollowell, Olof Linbom, Bobby Trivigno, Nikolas Brouillard, Nic Petan

Bizarre for a team that just made the ECF. They really shit the bed with the Trouba mess and I hope they sort that out before the season starts. That must of handcuffed them and stopped whatever move they were going to make

Leafs got much better as they added 3 NHL dmen, all 3 were in this years final 4. Is that a coincidence? Probably not, Brad targeted dmen who went deep this year for a reason.

Flyers are stuck in the mud spinning their wheels. They’ll get another pick in the middle of the 1st and pick another mid player.

I like what the Bs did. There is still a big hole for a top-6 scoring winger, but for what was out there and the priority of needs (IMO), they did about as well as I could have hoped.
