Commercials that annoy you in the 2024-25 season

Winnipeg has an infuriating commercial for about recycling, with a bunch of children mocking you for 30 seconds.

The commercial actively makes me want to throw my recycling in the trash, I've come close a few times now because of it

Thanks for this , Ill be going out of my way as much as possible to never recycle again

Would it be possible to arrange a three-way death match between the underwear clown, the guy on the Canadian sports betting site and the fat, black woman who really reeks from places other than her armpits?

So this probably only applies to ducks fans, but on victory plus they have this incredibly bad lawyer commercial that plays about 20-30 times a game for Easton & Easton, they all just give a creepy vibe and it's terrible editing and acting.
Vegas has Adam Kutner law, they are meh, and Richard Harris Law, which are folksy and cheesey and bad in a good way, I like them. Thankfully we don't Naqvi Injury Law ads all the time any more, I think most Knights fans still have PTSD from that era.

Then again I noticed at the start of the year on Knighttime+ all the commercials where all lectures from different agencies and orgs... they got old fast.

I think it is Canada-only but those East Side Mario ones where the kid (with a dubbed in adult voice) says in an Italian accent, "Pop. They got more soup! Pop. They got more salad! Pop. They got more garlic bread!" And they've been running this same horrible ad for 2-3 years now.

My Best-Carey

Sports interactive commercials.

They have two "fans" of rival teams "debate" about the other team.

They use 2 women in it and they're dressed the same.

That's what bugs me the most of a rather annoying commercial

A lot of athletes will eat fast food relatively often. It's not that big of a deal really.

The universally correct answer to the thread is any gambling ad.
Then fast food ads are the worst, because you're gambling with your health...see what I did there

So I subscribe to ESPN Plus. I use it to watch most Utah games, and most Tampa Bay games. I get served many local commercials as a result, which is fine, but there's one commercial that's incredibly annoying, so annoying that I decided to make this thread dedicated to annoying commercials.

Anyway, it's the BMW commercial where it starts off with a woman driving a car, calling a friend to proclaim that she has found "the one" (with a man sitting next to her, who smiles). The reason it has become so annoying to me is for two reasons. First of all, it seems like it gets aired almost every other commercial break (ESPN Plus shows a lot of repeat commercials, over and over again, within the same game as well as from game to game, but that's an entirely different issue). The second reason it has become so incredibly annoying to me is that it's one of those commercials that's trying to be clever and funny, and I'll admit, it probably actually mildly succeeded the first time I saw it. The reason those commercials become stale and annoying quickly, however, is because it's like being told the same joke over and over again by the same person. You get it the first time, maybe chuckle, then after a few times of hearing it again, you want to punch the person who keeps telling it to you.

Anyway, what are yours?

I just tune em out now, I do literally anything else, but my lil niece always looks up for the commercials. Kinda spooky how it works.

Oh, and tangentially related- I got blitzed for like a month with YouTube ads for some piano app. Anyone else get that? I’m simply amazed at the budget that musta gone into it, and how dumb it is. I heard you the first time, I have no interest in learning piano, y’all annoy me and I’d pick literally any other method to learn anyways- stop. Please stop.

And prescription drug ads- any prescription drug ad, that makes me mad.

Every single commercial where the fan has 0 life outside of cheering on the team and being spoon fed positivity.

Just rewatched the Kings-Wings game from last night, the second intermission report by Michigan Gambling Problem Helpline on FDSN is crazy.

It's live television. What do you do during the breaks?
Hit the wrong button on my remote as I stab for the mute

I rarely watch live television. I generally start hockey games an hour after they actually start and I end up finishing at roughly the same time.

For football it's more like 2-2.5 hours. There isn't actually that much football within the 3.5 hours allotted.

The downside is that I can't text or whatever in real time. The upside is that I can do other things with my time instead of watching commercials.
Being able to skip "third-time" is highly underrated. Makes games go so much faster.

My father in-law asserted that superstition can travel through space but not through time.

So the benefit of your lucky underwear can travel thousands of miles to help your team, but the benefit of your lucky underwear can definitely not travel through time if you are watching the game late - because that would be preposterous.

The cringe worthy Scotia Bank ones.
All the nauseating gambling ones.
McDavid and Matthews try .....but pretty lame.

I already posted in this thread...

But I'd be remiss to mention, during some time I recently spent in Ontario - yeah I wasn't thrilled about it either - they still run a commercial I will not link to, for fear of invoking the dreaded words.

1-877-Kars4Kids!

You can hear it now, can't you?

Gambling ads. I hope that they are banned from TV soon.

They literally make me want to not gamble.

From 2003 to 2021. I lived overseas and I loved gambling. After covid, things changed and I moved back to Canada and got back in the habit of watching TV through Sportsnet and it's complete garbage.

I think it's disgraceful that we have celebrities endorsing all of these gambling websites and there's too many of them advertised on TV like I really don't care.

Should I expect the next generation of North Americans to to be completely addicted to gambling? Are we expected to look at as a natural part of society instead of a disease?

After gambling ads, it's definitely like skip the dishes and all those other crappy apps that want you to rip off the restaurants. If you really want to save the restaurant industry, go in person to pick your food up.

Recently we've had like a new ad from Skip and all the ads have this dumb comedian I'm not familiar with and it features people having a problem and he just says you know you could have skipped this. Well you know, we could have skipped putting the ad on TV as well.

That jackass in the Liberty Mutual who buys a wax statue of himself.
Dude you look like and act like an ass especially that whine sound when the wax melts

Both versions are annoying but the one where a frisbee stabs into the figure is hilarious when you think about it. How hard would someone need to throw a frisbee to pierce a wax figure that is capable of holding it self up
