So I subscribe to ESPN Plus. I use it to watch most Utah games, and most Tampa Bay games. I get served many local commercials as a result, which is fine, but there's one commercial that's incredibly annoying, so annoying that I decided to make this thread dedicated to annoying commercials.

Anyway, it's the BMW commercial where it starts off with a woman driving a car, calling a friend to proclaim that she has found "the one" (with a man sitting next to her, who smiles). The reason it has become so annoying to me is for two reasons. First of all, it seems like it gets aired almost every other commercial break (ESPN Plus shows a lot of repeat commercials, over and over again, within the same game as well as from game to game, but that's an entirely different issue). The second reason it has become so incredibly annoying to me is that it's one of those commercials that's trying to be clever and funny, and I'll admit, it probably actually mildly succeeded the first time I saw it. The reason those commercials become stale and annoying quickly, however, is because it's like being told the same joke over and over again by the same person. You get it the first time, maybe chuckle, then after a few times of hearing it again, you want to punch the person who keeps telling it to you.

Anyway, what are yours?

The one about Gen Z was pretty good but then the follow up about tips was just stupid. They probably also didn’t realize that having millionaires “fake complain” about tipping culture (essentially consumers supplementing companies to provide low wage service workers with a cost of living) could come off a bit tone deaf.

Why are McDavid and Matthews appearing in McDonald's ads? They are not supposed to be eating that crap lol.

lol... I'm sure they don't. Well, more than like once or twice a year anyway.

It's just McDonalds enlisting current superstar athletes. They used to have similar ads with Gretzky and Sundin about 25 years ago.

A lot of athletes will eat fast food relatively often. It's not that big of a deal really.

The universally correct answer to the thread is any gambling ad.

There is a local Chicago pizza establishment called Aurelio's Pizza that Jeremy Roenick has been doing commercials for for a few years now.

The most recent of these is him and Joe Aureilio (the owner) eating a shit ton of food (pizza, various deep fried foods, ice cream, etc).

I never want to see JR eat anything ever again.

Gretzky used to eat McDonald's all the time, before practises and games. Guys like Usain Bolt, Tom Brady and Michael Phelps have also admitted to having a McDonald's habit.

Super Size Me was a scam by a binge-drinking alcoholic who used his deteriorating health as a smokescreen for an anti-fast food tirade. Fast food isn't really a big deal for athletes or even the regular person, as long as it's not your entire diet and you exercise regularly.

If you live on the east coast, you've probably seen the macgillivray law commercials a billion times. Annoying af. During games there's so many ads, I feel like any time they can squeeze one in, they do so. Whether it's a stoppage in play, or "this power play sponsored by", plastered on helmets, jerseys, all over the rink, it's all f***ing annoying. Plus the gambling and prescription commercials as others pointed out. It's nauseating. Sometimes I'll watch the games on mute for some peace and quiet.

That commercial sucks because the woman is the embodiment of our vapid, soulless consumer capitalist society.

Also… Beeeeeeeeeeee Kaaaaaaay, have it your way!

Commercials suck because even good ones get played out fast, and you also start to realize that televised sports are just an avenue to plug us with commercials for crap to buy. At least it's not the NFL - 4 breaks minimum per quarter that run twice as long.

The BK commercials are annoying but the song has a very tight, funky little bass line and I'm pretty sure they're only 15 second spots that actually show you what they're selling.

Any insurance commercial. Progressive and Geico have been running the same campaigns - Flo and the gecko, for like 20 years now. Put them on an ice floe and insurance, as a concept, should try not to actively screw people who pay in when they truly need it.

'Here in Canada, eh, we're rapidly running out of ways to pretend this country is better than America...Sports Interaction!'. Deliberately contentious and lame, 2/10, would use Fanduel if I was a gambler.

My favorite commercial is the blank shot when I stream games with ocean sounds in the background.
