I mean, Dmen on whole always get paid less than forwards so that foesn't really matter.
Plus Makar is about to become paid more than every Leaf, until Mattjews signs again
We just need a Makar to win the cup... wish they sucked as much as MacKinnon so they could finish last.
MacKinnon's Avs came in last, got Makar in the draft (luckily fell to 4th, probably wouldn't have grabbed him otherwise), and then he got MacKinnon out of the 2nd round for the first and only time in his career.
Sucks that the chokers don't have a Makar like MacKinnon does.

We're in a soft spot in the schedule where we only play 2 games in 9 days both at home.

Does anyone really still believe that half the cap dedicated to 4 forward is a recipe for success because it isn’t and that will be oroven once again this year…….The Core 4 account for 50 % of the outcome because they consume 50% of the Cap.
You're banking on the other 50% coming through in the clutch.

Similar players in my opinion. Tortellini once called Werenski a rover more than a defenseman. I think that's accurate and that's how I see Makar. Werenski hasn't lived up to his potential though and Makar certainly has.

well hopefully the leafs show up tonight, they lost to them 6-2 in October, and followed up with another loss 5-1 in January
Even if they didn't, this team can't tank like the one MacKinnon led...
One of our big issues (no one likes to admit it), is that our star players have been good their entire career, it has affected contracts and drafting.

No need to tank, but trading 3 first round picks plus Minten MAY have gotten us into the top 5 to find that Makar. We will never know.
