Proposal: Columbus - Philadelphia

I believe Philadelphia is in full rebuild mode and Columbus is on the doorstep of being a play off contender.

I always liked skilled but gritty style of Konecny who will be an excellent addition to play alongside Fantilli.

It breaks my heart to let Chinakhov go, but we have to pay a big price and I think he will be a great line mate for Michkov. Luca is a very promising center that fits the Flyers timeline and the Wild pick now tracks to be in the early 20s.

I'm a little reluctant on the Jackets side for a couple reasons - this sort of feels like the Timo Meier trade where the Devils rushed to make that big acquisition, and the player just isn't good enough. Is Konecny going to be good enough? I know he has been that good at times.

The other more solid reason is that I'd rather put our chips towards fixing the Jackets defense. We are very unlikely to be able to use UFA to fix it, we need to make the big trade(s) on D.

I really like Konecny as a player but that contract would downright terrify me to trade a lot of assets for.

His contract extension falls in that "fine to hand out in UFA, but wouldn't like to trade for" category for me. I'd be fine giving him that deal without giving up assets, but both giving up assets while also taking on that deal is really tough.

It's the same way that I'd be fine giving someone like Marner a $12.5 million a year UFA deal, but trading a 1st+ for Marner signed long-term at $12.5 million a year would make me really hesitate.

He's easily worth his contract with a rising cap. He's almost double the points than all but 1 guy on his own team. The only other offensive guy plays the same wing and is a rookie. He plays with nobody and produces. Teams would line up to trade for him.

This is not a crap on Philly fest, they are rebuilding, but look at their top offensive D's point total and look at the center depth and their individual production and then TK near point a game not only shows as really good, it's downright impressive.

That’s my thought as well, the cap is rising and Columbus has a ton of cap space as it is

We can “fix” our defense by simply re-signing Fabbro and Provorov first for time being, with Gud back abd Mateychuk maturing, they should be fine under a proper structure.

Konecny is good everywhere on the ice, he’s back checking, he can PK. Would be a great addition
 
I believe Matthews said TK was the most underrated player in the league. He is around a ppg pace despite the Flyers not scoring much these days and having a historically bad PP. On a good team I think he’s a 90 pt player. The Flyers should definitely trade him. I think Buffalo should be a bigger target.

What do you think of this CBJ package ?
 
TK would get more love if he way on any other team. Without him, good chance Michkov is their leading scorer with 40-50 points. As has been said, I don’t think his contract will be that bad with the rising cap. If the Flyers are serious about tanking they should trade him for the best offer they can get, even if it’s a tad underwhelming. They will make up for it with a top 3 pick
 
I would like to see what Flyers fans think because to me this seems reasonable but again I am biased for CBJ. This is essentially a 2 1st round pick and Chinakhov, when healthy, is on an exceptionally good contract. Also LDBB is a much needed young center for that team that is looking at a mid 6 role. He played 2C very well this year when we needed him to step up.

Why? He’s 27 and scores 60 pts like it is clock work.

His deal is not even that egregious.

Not getting TK for a decent prospect, a 20ish pick and an oft-injured roster player.
Not thinking Johnson or Lindstrom but I’m sure you can upgrade the 3 parts:

CBJ first over Min: 10ish vs 20ish pick
Sillinger over Chinakhov: a C Philly can play now
Elick over LDBB: younger prospect

the only part of this that stings is the CBJ 1st over the Minny 1st. LDBB is a better prospect and Chinakhov is a much better player than Sillinger if you want to risk health

Gonna be completely honest we would giftwrap that for you. I would say to most Columbus fans that's actually downgrading the package.

Sillinger is a very young C on a good contract but honestly he's probably going to cap out at a high 3C and a backup 2C in a pinch. While he can PK LDBB is probably the center you would want as there is potential for a high roll to be a low 1C as he's shown he can be a steady 2C right now even at his age. He played 15 games with us and did pretty well while Monahan was out as we shifted Fantilli up to the first line. Also Elick is probably going to cap out at a 3RHD.

It looks like that young kid LDBB is a center and has potential to become top6 one. But not on Columbus where they have too many centers already. So trading him for a scoring winger looks as a right move. 1st is ok, and Chinakhov is good and still pretty young, but has health problems.

I'd say trade is ok for both teams. Columbus gives away two players it doesn't need a lot and a pick which is nice, but the team needs good players not picks, and gets a scoring winger and one of the best PK killers in the league. Flyers get two legit and still young NHLers and a 1st.

I don’t know enough about those players. But it seems like they are or will be middle 6 types which the Flyers had a ton of prior to trading Farabee and Frost for nothing as well as Laughton. After trading them they still are strong there with the current roster plus have some good middle 6 players coming and have 7 picks in the top 2 rounds this draft. I think the Flyers should try and go for a young center that looks to be a 1C, but that’s not likely to be traded. Thinking a Rossi type. In the end, I think coming away with a top draft pick is the way to go, quality over quantity. Buffalo makes sense since they can’t be as interested in picking high as other teams are. I also think TK is the kind of player they need. And it’s not in the division.

Trading TK helps the tank as well for next year. Trading him could set the team up well to get 2 high end players in the draft plus who they get this year plus Michkov.

I think looking at the players in the counter overall, you jump to a higher risk with Elick over LDBB but lower risk with Silly over Chinakhov. If the interest is in a young center with upside, LDBB is the better option of the two. Completely different player than Sillinger, but has higher offensive potential and would likely be a future 2C. His growth has been excellent and he played very well in that role in Columbus earlier this year. Chinkhov is the wild card. He has the highest talent of all listed, but has struggled with injury. Personally, I would like to see him stick around. Good size, great shot, speed and is willing to work. Just needs to stay healthy so it all shows on the ice, not in a bio. I have no qualms with the swap of picks, but think CBJ 1st, Chinny and LDBB is a higher end package. Still may not be thought as good enough for the Flyers, but, to me, it's a good deal.

No we can't, the D has been subpar and injuries immediately take us back to having a terrible D. The FO has already said they are going to reshape the D this off-season

I don't think the Flyers will trade TK ..they would have to blown away and a real 1C..2C would have to be just a part of that. His contract is good, he's solid offensively and defensively plays PP and PK..he and MM would be our RWs for the foreseeable future.
 
As a Flyers fan, I'd be looking to move TK. I love TK, but Michkov's timeline is more important. The 1st, for me, would have to be 2026. Like others have said, I would target Buffalo, but this offer isn't bad.
 
I wouldn't move TK that would be insane.
You need talent and expiernce in all shape, ages and sizes.

Trading out of a 1st line winger to try and make everything match the Michkov timeline seems like a move the Buffalo Sabres would make, and look at where trying to match timelines has gotten them?

The rebuild with Michkov should not last longer than another year or two if he is as good as he has shown. They should be competing for the playoffs by the time he is 22. Need to be adding more skill like TK, not removing it from the team for futures.

Having a mix of high end experience and high end youth is the right direction imo

I wouldn't see any problem with offering our 2026 1st, but I'm feeling confident right now and so that may change within a day or two. :)
