Proposal: Columbus - Philadelphia

I wouldn't move TK that would be insane.
You need talent and expiernce in all shape, ages and sizes.

Trading out of a 1st line winger to try and make everything match the Michkov timeline seems like a move the Buffalo Sabres would make, and look at where trying to match timelines has gotten them?

The rebuild with Michkov should not last longer than another year or two if he is as good as he has shown. They should be competing for the playoffs by the time he is 22. Need to be adding more skill like TK, not removing it from the team for futures.

Having a mix of high end experience and high end youth is the right direction imo

Apparently HF thinks TK isn't going to be able to keep up with Michkov over the next 6 years.

Better to trade him for 18 year olds that won't be ready for most of that time period.

Michkov's first UFA year is 2031 - TK will be better during that 2026-2031 window that whoever you trade him for.

The Flyers are not going to complete until 2030. They get much more by trading him rather than keeping, he’s 28 now

then they are going to be trading Michkov by the time they get to 2030 because he is gonna be tired of the program and want to go to a place he can compete.
When you have a player the caliber of Michkov, you don't dick around for 5 years. It's how you become Buffalo.

They need to be aiming for playoffs by the time he is aged 22/23, not aged 25/26. Michkov needs all the top line help he can get, and it makes little sense to me to trade one of the few caliber players Philly has. This isn't an EA video game where you plug in a line up of all 21 year olds and have a dynasty. You need variance and degrees of skill players for best results.

Gutting the team of all the skill minus Michkov would be quite a mistake. IMO Philly can be gutter bad one more year, 2 years at absolute max, then it's time to start the climb.

Taking on an 8 year deal with, I believe, a full NMC to a 28 yr old that hasn’t even kicked in yet will give teams pause.

The deal will look good compared to what players will be getting this summer in UFA - but the contract is big enough to lessen somewhat the willlingness to put big futures in a trade package for Konecny.

They have already been ducking around for 2 years since he was drafted. They have zero high end players his age range. Zero. I don’t think anyone is suggesting playing an entire team of 21 yr olds but they need more top of the lineup youth since they have none beyond MM and TK would be a good way to add that.

The Flyers cannot trade Konecny without getting back a young player with Top 6 Center or Top Pair D potential.

Minnesota for Rossi+ makes more sense...for one example.

lol absolutely not from the flyers.

Only way he’s traded is for a top 6 C, and if it’s a 2C then the other team is adding

The Flyers set a high price on Konecny and thus chose to sign him. Whatever you think is fair is not even close to getting a deal done.

Flyers think they’re competing next season

I'm not trying to be a dick, I've always liked the Flyers, but why?
Because they were in a rush to clear Farabee’s contract so they can make moves to be in the playoffs next year, and then be contenders after that when they will have no more dead money. They’re pretty much done with subtractions. The time to get Konecny was before he signed, but you (anyone) was looking at 3 1st rounders (or similar value) and nobody was ever doing that. Look how long it took them to trade Laughton after having him on the block for years.
