Honestly, does anyone see how this team makes the playoffs? Even in this **** division they're sinking fast.

One win in their last 7.

No significant injuries, hot goalie in net... blow a lead to a bad team (who are playing without their top 2 scorers) and now tied with that team outside the playoff bracket.

Next on the schedule: Pens, Leafs, Habs, Caps.

At what point do they hit the panic button? Or do we just go quietly this time?

IMO, Canes were a bit lucky to be up in this game. I don't care what the shots said, the Canes were outplayed the first 2/3rds of the game. They played a very good 3rd period for 15 minutes.

CLB is a strong forchecking team that the Canes had trouble dealing with for 2/3rds of the game. Then when the Canes started to dominate play, CLB picked up the physical aspect, pounced on a mistake and game over.

No one's naming names, but Tlusty's turnover is getting roasted by everyone, including Muller. He only played 13 seconds after it.

That was the game changer IMO. As I said earlier, at that juncture in the game with the score what it was, that play is inexcusable.

they could trade the first rounder. they could also make a panic move by moving one of the obvious pieces (gleason, tlusty, ruutu, goalie) for a band aid instead of more long term piece.

rask is possible piece in such a move as well.

Would have been great if "shutdown defenseman" Tim Gleason had any idea he was defending a 2-on-1. That would require him to possess a brain, though.

Tlusty's going to get the majority of the blame as he should, but Gleason and Bellemore both ****ed that up too. Gleason can't allow that puck to get through (and didn't take the shot either, basically doing nothing) and Bellemore took himself out of the play with his indecision.

Whether you want to call it an actual "panic" move or not, if this organization wants to be any better than the Floridas and Winnipegs of the league, they have to do SOMETHING.

Or are we seriously still expecting that OTLs and a bad division are going to get it done?

I doubt the first rounder would be moved unless they got a superstar back for it. JR gotta know that the team is not a cup contender with one move.

Gleason, Tlusty and Ruutu will get you nothing good unless they are in a package so to me trading those guys wouldn't effect too much.

Trading Ward however could get some return on the hopes that he'll play better in a different environment.

Bellemore had no business attempting to play the puck after Tlusty's turnover. His poke check was a gamble. Why are you gambling with a 1 goal lead late in the third? After that Gleason who is already painfully slow hesitates trying to decided if he should play the puck or the man. That hesitation gave Johansen the extra step and it was in the back of the net.

FAIL all around by Tlusty, Bellemore and Gleason.

We have watched this team lose for what, 4-5 season in a row now?

Barring some second half miracle run this team will miss the playoffs again.

I am really at a breaking point where I can't watch them any longer. I'm moving to Boston after the new year and I am going to really think long and hard before purchasing GameCenter Live. More often than not a night of Hurricanes hockey ends up making me frustrated, angry or depressed, or some combination of them all.

Yep. I agree that Bellemore and to a lesser extent Gleason are also at fault, but Tlusty's poor decision put that all in motion so as you said, he should get most of the blame. Knowing that he has his bottom pairing, slow footed defensemen out there makes his decision ever harder to take. If he puts it deep right away, they keep cycling or get a change.
