I mean the team earned the loss, no doubt about that, but Martin showed why he's a AHL goalie. A couple of those goals he didn't even react to the shot until after the puck had hit the net. Terrible reaction speed that would get lit up by any team, let alone Colorado.

Any game he plays going forward is a scheduled loss.

I ruined it with my suggestion. I'm a jinx lately...I've gone to both of the Checkers 2 losses this year (6-0-1 when I don't watch). This was the first West Coast game I got to watch in full. Every State football game I've watched was a loss. Hurricanes are the only team I've actually seen win lately lol
Nah you didn’t ruin it, it was great timing with this matchup, Martin, the travel, etc. main mojo source unaffected

I dunno. He made some VERY good saves last night as well. Which goal, in particular, would you blame him for?

Makar's 93 mph slapper?
McKinnon's goal, where Ghost inexplicably gave him MORE room to work with?
Lekhonen's deflection?
Rantanen's 5-on-3, top corner ripper?

Denver has been a quite a challenge for the Canes with Avs Big 3 dominating us (last 4 years, they are +21 whereby our top 3 guys have collectively been -15).

In Raleigh, hasn't been an issue (with Avs three -7 & Canes three +4). Necas is the only one of our Big 3 that has been productive with Svetch a horror home and away:

While that is true, with a record like that, and his self-admitted confusion about what actually constitutes GI, he might be better served not challenging unless it is blatantly obvious.
I’m sure part of it is just showing the goalie “hey I’ve got your back on this.” And trusting our PK to hold the fort if it doesn’t go our way.

We also never have this conversation when we beat Edmonton, even though McDavid has perfectly good career stats against us.

Nathan MacKinnon is a world class perennial Hart candidate and Cale Makar is a world class perennial Norris candidate. Both are future first ballot Hall of Famers.

Them having great games and beating us in the regular season isn’t a reason for a referendum on team performance or anything else. Sometimes great players have great games. Whoopdedoo.

Well, we never had this conversation about Edmonton, because up until very recently, McDavid played relatively poor against us.

He currently has 5 goals, 15 assists in 14 games against us.
But he had 12 of those points (and 4 of those goals) in his last 5 games against us.

We also tend to win games against Edmonton, and lose games against the Avalanche, so that's another factor.

Nah, don't agree.

This is a 4 year window of poor results against the Avs in Denver and the +/- is overwhelmingly negative.

There are some teams that handle the Canes more favorably due to their/our player profiles (Tro was our last bigger/fast C) and Avs/Florida are a couple that stand out (via their skill/size at Center). Either our player profile or tactics when MackInnon's line is on the ice needs to be adjusted to compete against him.

Recently the Avs lost to Tampa, Nashville (O'Reilly), Winnipeg (Lowry, and others) & they had the players to neutralize McKinnon leading to a better result.

Nashville and Winnipeg were at home where they get the favorable matchup and actually can put O’Reilly, Lowry, and others out there against MacKinnon. We have Staal, Martinook, others, who are quite literally some of the most difference-making shutdown forwards in the league. Vincent Trocheck is 5’10” and is a totally different profile of player than MacKinnon, and frankly isn’t really known for his speed as his standout characteristic. All of that is just grasping at something to complain about.

This was game 13 of the regular season. Believe it or not, we’re going to lose to many, many worse teams than Colorado this year, and that won’t justify this level of concern either.

Pfft. you are missing the point Bleed. We lost a game with our 3rd string goalie, after traveling the day of the game due to weather, so it's a referendum on how the team can't win against teams like Colorado.
I feel you are suggesting quite callously that people on this board are prone to over reaction….

We only won 7 or 8 in a row when two months ago most of us were expecting the team to barely make the playoffs. That shit just aint gonna get er done.

This it's more real than home ice advatage because of a rowdy crowd. NFL teams fly in early to get acclimated, we flew in that day. The fact that they came out buzzing like they did it a estimate to Billy B and Rod the Bod.
Yea it just hurts that we had that game completely in our control for basically the first 29 minutes...then we had such an epic collapse that it only took 10 minutes to lose the whole damn game, convincingly. The period ending allowed us some reset but the damage was done. It's not doom and gloom (although it is the 2nd time we had a period like that, see STL), but the team definitely needs to reflect on what went wrong and how to stop the bleeding to prevent such a drastic flip like that.
