Colorado is at an interesting cross roads between a re-tool and pushing ahead with the current core. I’m curious to see what the perspective value of players are from other NHL fans and if there are any true re-tool options or if the status quo with minor tweaks is the best route. Below is a list of potential trade candidates:

- Girard LHD (2x$5m) solid 2-way top 4 (24p in 73gp)
- Manson RHD (1x$4.5m) shutdown top 4 (15p in 48gp)
- Colton C/W (2x$4m) middle 6 (29p in 61gp)
- Coyle C (1x$5.25m) middle 6 (35p in 83gp)
- Lehkonen W (2x$4.5m) top 6 (45p in 69gp)
- Nichuskin W (5x$6.13m) top 6 (34p in 43gp)
- Wood W (4x$2.5m) bot 6 (8p in 37gp)

I’m not saying they should move all of these players, but I would imagine we see some turnover.

All depend if Colorado front office really want
They can have Picks only
Downgrade caliber player and get pick
Or Player vs player

I think it would be a mixture of willingness to shed cap (Wood) hope to get picks or prospects for some (Colton, with Girard, Manson, and Coyle to the lesser extent) and ideally player for player (Nichuskin, Lehkonen).

Wood and Colton would definitely be the most pressing in terms of moving on. I would then place Girard, Coyle, and Lehkonen in the camp of moving on from if we could find a good trade.

Most of those contracts are 1/2 year deals which is a huge plus for teams. Minimal commitment.

Yeah I would think the term length provides good value opportunity in most cases (not so much Wood).

From a rental movement they could all fetch decent value, but I would imagine Colorado won’t be in the game of trading players as rentals unless a package was unbelievably good.

It would be trading the rentals out for more of a longterm solution. If they wanted Mayfield or Pelech (pipe dream) on the back end, the Isles would make something happen for the shorter term deals to open up flexibility.

Wood and Coyle have negative value without retention .

Girard has little to no value due to contract and inability to perform during playoffs, personal issues, lack of size and marshmallow softness.

The rest have marginal value.

Avs only trade chip with significant value is Necas.

Highly disagree with everything outside of your Wood take.

During the regular season he had some big ups and downs due to injury, but in playoffs he was a very solid second pair defenseman. He’s a solid #4 on a contender imo.
If he's a quality middle-pairing defensive vet RHD on a fine contract, why would you trade him? I can't imagine anyone is giving up more than a late 2nd for him, so it's not like you're getting a ton of value.

What do you think the value ofCoyle and Girard is?

I think Girard performed well in playoffs this year based on the eye test. This was supported by Hockey Stat Cards having the 5th highest score on player stat cards, had a decent offensive performance with 3 points in 7 games, handled a heavy forecheck game well from Dallas. I think he was arguably our second best defender consistently this year and it seems that his stint in rehab has really helped bring his game back closer to what he’s expected. In terms is assets I would say he has a positive value particularly for a team looking for a steady puck moving defender. I would estimate his value at one first or two second round picks.

Coyle put up 13 points in 19 games (56 point pace) after putting up 60p in he then got lumped with linemates that did not suit his play at all once Colton go injured and Landeskog got moved up. He was relied upon to PK and did a steady job. I think he’s a solid middle 6 option that a lot of teams would be happy to play. He would have decent value as a defensive forward. I would estimate his value similar to Girard in terms of draft assets.

Coyle played produced 35 pts ove 84 games with a 5M contract. That is capdump territory. He’s not a 2C and is an overpaid geriatric 3C. No team would give up value for that unless he came with significant retention.

Girard was not a playoff performer. He’s soft and overpaid for what he brings. Not much offense and gets bullied in the playoffs. He can be traded for a similar player with a similar caphit but standalone he has no value value.

For example, i can see a zibanajed for Girard trade straight up. Fair value IMO.

No team would waste 1st or 2nd round picks on Girard or Coyle.
