So Colorado takes on more contract $ and downgrades in both positions.... They do this why?

No thank you, while I wouldn't mind getting rid of Pleks & Co. I don't want to take on longer contracts in the process.

And I agree with CanadianSharks that it's a bad deal for Colorado.

Unless the Habs are offering Galchenyuk or Price our proposals are always terrible apparently so don't even try.

Don't get me wrong, do I think the value is fair? Probably not. But the point still stands that Montreal can't even get secondary players without offering their top end ones on HFboards. Haters gonna hate.

Perhaps you could suggest an offer with is probably fair value for Avs fans to reject before getting on your soap box?

I doubt Sods or Beauch waive anyways.

To be honest neither player interests me. Soderberg although different plays a similar role to Plekanec. I would like to see Montreal acquire a legitimate second line center who Plekanec can play behind. I don't think Soderberg is better then Pleky in any real aspect of the game (defensively he's definitely not and offensively either) besides the fact that he's bigger and younger.

And well our D is looking really solid and the only place for Beauchemin would be the press box.

 Beauch would easily slot in on :laugh:our 2nd pairing.

Now I see why you think the way you do. Got yourself a nice set of those homer glasses and you like to where them proudly.

He's isn't better then Petry or Markov so no he wouldn't. People all summer have been saying Shea is declining at 31 so what's that say about Beauchemin at 34 and a lower skill set. Not interested.

So Colorado gives up Soderberg for Pleks. Same production last year and we pay more money for less years. Thats not gonna happen.

Then we give up a defenseman who is outproducing your returning forward. On a team that desperately needs d-men.

And you are gracious enough to send us a forward who wouldnt even crack our top line in the AHL?

God awful trade.

I guess not that many people have seen what top four defenders get lol. If by some chance FB was willing to waive, then he'd net us a much better return as just a deadline acquisition.

That's not happening unless Colorado is in the dumpsterfire by the trade deadline.

Just because Weber is declining at 31 doesn't mean every player in the league is also declining at the same or older ages. What kind of logic is this :amazed::laugh:

Beauch is still a very capable #3D signed to a great contract.

That's highly debatable. Soderberg is every bit as good offensively, and he was very good defensively last year for the Avs.

Plekanec is not the player you just described. His game has slowly taken steps backwards lately.

Do a poll and I would confidently say the majority of neutral fans would take a 31 year old Soderberg at 4.5M over a 34 Year old Plekanec at 6.0M. Comparable players where one is younger and makes less money.

I have a feeling one of Söderberg/Beachemin will end up in Las Vegas. Either way, while they aren't amazing players on amazing contracts they aren't problems that have to be addressed.

Bad value aside, puts the Avs way too close the salary cap. They wouldn't be able to call anyone up in case of an injury.

Why does Montreal do this? Soderberg is NOT better than Plekanec at either end of the ice.

Beauchemin is not the defenceman we need, and I do not see him as being better than Weber, Petry or Markov. He might be better than Beaulieu at the moment, but there is no reason to bring him in and stunt Beaulieu's development.

The deal is probably not useful for Colorado, either, since Plekanec is the kind of guy you go after if you are expecting to make the playoffs and do well. The Avs, according to what their fans have been saying in trade threads, are rebuilding.

The trade makes no sense for either team. It weakens Montreal and does not offer players to help Colorado with their rebuild.
